+1 on what Wendell said.
Look around for used as well. A well maintained .22 pistol will last many 10's-of-thousands of rounds. Heck, I've got a cheapie Norinco M93 that has seen at least 5000 rounds and it still runs great (but the rear sight is loose, I just keep it for kids to plink with, 'cause it's got quite a small grip).
A Ruger Mk1 in decent shape would also serve you well for the next couple decades, and don't discount the fixed sight versions, once you have a favourite load and get it dialed-in, you won't be playing with the sights anyway.
