Hey folks,
Well I think I'm going to pick up a Norinco CQ in a couple of weeks,,,I know they are knock-offs and are Chinese made but I think from what I've read and searched they are pretty decent rifles.I know that the finish can be somewhat of an issue,I talked to a CQ owner/gun store owner and he told me that it is just a bad application,not a big deal.This will be my first black rifle and I think for the price,it's a good start for me. Can anyone out there give me some honest feed-back on this rifle, and your current/past experiences with them.

great rifle for the price point!
'I have one around 1500ish rounds through. No real issues what so ever.

It is a definite keeper. I upgraded the stock set to a magpul MOE set. Looks much better. Do i care if it was made by children, or a country with no precautions for pollution? Not in the least.

I went through the same, should I shouldn't I, well I am glad I did

It's not a huge investment, and if you decide to sell it, you won't lose much as you didn't pay much

just get it......

for paper punching, and target shooting, you can't beat it......
 
Fit and finish are passable but don't expect perfection.
Its a light handy carbine that has gone bang every time I've pulled the trigger.
The only upgrading I've done is to add a MOE stock set which has changed the ergonomics & feel of the rifle substantially.
Everyone who has fired it comments on its light weight and great feel. Just seems to fit everyone no matter how big/small their stature or hands.

Actually, the only poor fit and finish on mine was on the lower assembly parts. The quality of the receiver itself is fine. Best AR bang for the buck by far.
 
Thanks guys,both those rifles look great. And I mean c'mon did I really need to go on here to get convinced....not a chance lol..I knew I was going to buy it no matter what anyone said!!!! I am a hardcore gunnut and these are like crack to me!!!!! I am doing a world tour with my guns,,I have a russian SKS,a Czech CZ8584V and an American Ruger9mm...#### still lots to choose from.....

There both nice but the 3X acog is over power for the 14.5 .. I was told they work best with a 16 or greater because there 100m setting ... thats why I went with the cq compm4 optic .. Not that I know any thing I think its all up to the shooter not some jackass behind a counter
 
Mines been great, goes bang 100% of the time, very decently accurate and every part I've put on it has fit fine and worked perfectly.

This shot has the Norc upper on my Armalite lower - fits great, works perfectly this way, or with the Norc lower - absolutely no issues.
 
anyone had any issues with swapping out the lowers on one of these? Say for example i wanted to swap out the lower and add one that was milspec but with a commercial buffer tube

It won't be an issue, even if by 'Milspec' you meant FA, the upper is FA compliant in all details. If you mean putting a North American lower under the norc upper (RRA, Stag, LMT, late model Colt, etc.) it'll work exactly the same as mine - perfectly. There are some Colts that require adapter pins, but given that you got those (from Questar, I believe) it would work perfectly. If you get a stripped lower, I'd recomend getting a parts kit at the same time, it'll give you a nicer trigger. As far as the buffer tube (receiver extension) goes, the difference between Mil and Commercial is the outside diameter of the unthreaded portion of the outside of the tube, everything else is the same so there would be no issues as long as your stock is made to go on a commercial tube (the standard Norc tube is commercial). Incidently, the mil tube is the one with the smaller diameter.
 
i'v had mine for 8 monthes and its been really good. the mags are junk though. after market ones work good though.

great thanks! im thinking of throwing a norc upper on a Spikes tactical lower, my only issues with the norcs ive seen has been the really rough finish on the lower
 
Curious about the upper. How is the receiver marked? Keyhole or what markings are on the upper receiver? FSB F marked? Bbl markings, twist, cal, manufacturer?
