my new xcr

That adapter is rather hideous with that lobe sticking down so far. With the complaints about cheek weld VS BUIS sight level being 1/4" to 1/2" too high, they could of moved the stock up a bit.

The ONLY stock adapters I'll be putting on my XCR will be from Robarms directly. That one looks rather bad.

I have the adapter for my XCR and the anodizing is a long way off. The one Charles originally posted in the XCR FAQ thread is much darker than what is being delivered.

what are the prices the XCRs are selling for?

I have heard they have these in 7.62X39 would there be a problem running this corrosive ammo through one of these fine pieces of machinery? Also, who's got these for sale for under 2000? I have been quoted 2300+ plus tax from my local gun store which to me is a bit high! I would appreciate the feed back! I want an AR but hate the price of .223! feedback much appreciated, private messages always welcome!
thanks
mike

Shooting corrosive ammo is nothing more than 5 extra minutes of cleaning after a day of shooting, XCR barrels are all chromed, the body is aluminum and if you keep rest of it well lube, you shouldn't have any worries at all.

$2300+ is in line with the RA prices, if you go on RA's website add all the parts together to make it into a Canadian non-restricted version, the price is pretty close.

Wingsuit: nice rifle! you dress it up exactly like what i want ...

Rockenrod: please try some us-made 7.62x39mm hunting ammo in addition to the cheap surplus, to see how both ammo types compare, accuracy wise. Thanks!

I will be trying some other types of ammo, not just surplus. To check accuracy and consistency.
I might also do a comparison between a VZ58/ CZ858. I might bring along a AR (in.223) as well, I know it wont be a direct comparison, due to different ammo/ ballistics. But why not.
I will also try out some different optic setups just because.
But day one, will just be some fun shooting getting used to the rifle and doing the break in.

I took the x39 XCR out today and put about 300 rounds through it on the highest gas settings. It worked great with no real issues except the C-Products 5 round mags are POS. They only hold 4 round. I can fit the 5th in, but its really tight and won’t feed correctly. No other stoppages. Accuracy with the 68 Chech surplus ammo was ok. I also mounted a Millett DMS-1, on a Armalite one peace mount. I was getting about 2-3 inch groups @ 100m. A few groups were about 1 ½. So a little better groups then I get with the VZ58. I’m going to pick up some good x39 ammo and see how that is for function and accuracy.
Overall it’s a great rifle, now I have to convince my wife I need a 5.56 conversion kit.

You can disassemble the mag, and file down a couple of mm from the legs of the follower. Turn it into 5.5 round mag. Just be careful not to shave off too much - put the mag back together and try how many rounds fit in after shaving off a little bit. (If you shave off too much, it's not the end of the world - since the follower is plastic, you can use epoxy to attach a limiter of some kind of the bottom of the follower (ie you don't need to use rivers, or weld). It's just extra work).

Edit: See below for a much simpler effective way that involves cutting off one coil from the follower spring

I also rounded off the metal feed lips on my C-Products 7.62x39 mags just a tad - sharp corners there were doing nasty things to my fingers.

they are done in the same tank, some times in the same batch.

Charles, I am eagerly waiting for the folding stock AR adapter for the XCR. Very eagerly.

P.S. I had a chance to play around with H&K 5/30 aluminum mag in 5.56 the other day. Man, that's a nice mag.

I was planning on doing just that tomorrow.

rockenrod, I spoke out of my ass, and I apologize for giving you wrong information.

When I wrote the above, I only worked on one mag, and after filing it for a while, I felt that it got better. But it didn't. In reality the follower doesn't even touch the bottom plate of the mag - the coil of the spring prevents it. So I don't know why it felt like the round gets in easier - must be placibo effect.

Instead of filing the follower, take decent wire cutters, and cut off two coils from the bottom of the follower spring. That will give you about 3mm clearance and the mag will just work. Just did 5 mags that way. 6th round cant be inserted if all you cut are two coils.

I plan on taking then apart today and sorting them out.

Here's my XCR, bought right here on the EE, along with two Bowie's I forged, and of course my side-kick, Rocky The Wonder-dog."

I have a T-pod on order for it from Israel, and my XCR will shoot 1 moa groups with American Eagle ammo, and do it on the "S" gas setting.

The first one was krylon'd. We sold out of the first 100pcs off the machines before they even hit dealers. The next batch will be died darker. Our vz hand guards are done in the same tanks with the same result and no one has ever complained before.

Ok, didn't realize you had painted that adapter to match the XCR. The grey would definitely match up better with some of the VZ's I've seen.

I gotta handle the micro-version down at SHOT. It is actually pretty handy. - too bad Alex Robinson escaped before we got the chance to make an official CGN interview with him. The heavy 18.5" barrel kills the XCR. Replace it with a light weight barrel and it will have more potential.
