Although the performance of these cartridges duplicate each other you might want to have one as a carbine for bush hunting and the other a rifle as for longer shots.
A possible solution to prevent taking the wrong ammo is to put the ammo in the case that you will use with each rifle.ie .308 ammo goes in the case that you use for the .308. This problem has existed for many years for folks that had a .270 and a .30-06.
What would happen if you touched off a 7-08 in a .308 barrel?

I don't know how people can put the wrong ammo in a gun...don't you look at the box, or the base of the shells everytime???
kinda seems like a basic thing...like check the gas guage before leaving on that 3 hour drive ya know?
