Ok.........here is my dilema.

The EESA 2010 3 gun spring match is fast approaching.

The idea once again is to spread the match over 3 weekends.

Handgun April 10th

Shotgun May 1

Rifle May 15

Now due to the limited slots available we will only be taking 30 slots aside from the workers who will shoot on the Friday before.

As such we will NOT be openning the handgun match until those who want to shoot the rifle and shotgun matches are slotted.

One way would be to enforce a PREPAY system for the whole enchilada ($75 for all three) but that might be cumbersome to acomplish what with 3 unlock codes for the three matches.

Anyone have any ideas how to handle this aside from a prepay?

Or is prepay the obvious solution? Pay up front for the handgun match and then have the rifle and shotgun matches unlocked for free or manually add them into the rifle and shotgun matches. A few weeks before the match unlock them all so people can move themselves around in terms of squads.

One idea I had was to open Shotun and Rifle only at this point and the handgun say a week or so later.

Anyone not slotted for all three matches would be deleted from the match until say a week or two before the match at which point it will be first come first serve.

What I am trying to avoid is having handgun slots taken up by people who DON"T wish to be part of the whole Grand Tournament 3 Gun match.

You could start by allowing last years Grand Tournament participants first option of signing up...after that just fill in the blanks.. :D
What's the mailing address for my cheque?

I don't think you even need to have the rifle and shotgun portions on the IPSC Matches.net site right now.

You sign up for the entire match by prepaying the $75 for the pistol. You can add rifle / shotgun after the pistol match is finished so you can use the systems emailing function...

There's more than enough pistol matches in Ontario every year...so I wouldn't even give the option of only shooting pistol. This is a 3 gun...

Don't you mean that you want to avoid handgun slots being taken by those who don't want to go for rifle and shotgun?

Exactly that.................
It makes Zero sense to have empty rifle and shotgun slots in the tournament due to handgun only slots being taken.

Add to that the fact that the handgun only competitors are used in the factoring of the GT scores. There is a whole thread of debate on the GV about this subject but to date there has been no answer forthcoming.

That is where I am leaning at this moment.

Accept prepay for the handgun at $75.

Those people are Ok'd for the handgun via Prepay.

I can then manually add them to the shotgun and rifle.

Otherwise I have to spend time nuking non GT people from the handgun and explaining time after time why they must shoot all three.

That said if someone wants to pay $75 for a L2 handgun and no show for the other two matches. Well I guess EESA matchs ARE worth that much!

LOL! Well three gun matches generally attract the same unsavory characters year after year. But occasionally there is a new face.

Can you just do the prepay, up until, say, the Thurs night before the match, then open it up to anyone else, to fill up any unused spots?

We don't have to tell GV that we take out anyone that doesn't do the Grand Tourney......;)

What's the rational behind spreading the match(es) over such a long time period...?

Why not just have a 3-gun...? Sign up, show up with three guns and shoot.

I mean if it's set up so that shooters can shoot everything or just one or two portions... Isn't that really just three different matches..?

Bigger Round Count

That's it...?

How many ranges does ESSA have...?

'Been to one day 3-gun matches with 70 shooters where the round count is close to 100 rifle 200 pistol and 75 shotshell with a little bit of 00buck and a handfull of slugs thrown in...

Did you shoot the ESSA 3 gun GT last year? I much prefer this format...even with the 2500 or so Km's I have to drive from Ottawa

Well then.......we await your 3 gun match with the round count you describe..........

You may be in luck. I'm working on something for August.

Until then get signed up for http://www.brm3g.com/ There maybe some spots left open or at least a waiting/stand-by list.

BWSA's 3-gun season starts in ernest April 17 with six matches the last being the champonship in Sept.
Heres a vid of the '09 championship shoot courtesy of Russ and his hat-cam. 'Gives a great shooters view of the entire match.

As previouselymentioned there's also Livingston's 3-gun.. They run a very inovative and challenging program with mostly "blind" stages and a "dark-house"
