Great site (Hodgdons powder) ThanksWith Hodgdon now owning IMR and distributing Winchester powders they have produced a great website combining the data from all three companies.
Go Here to see it.
I worked through the Hodgdson site for 9mm & 147 gr FMJ. It lists a powder called WSF. Is there another name/number for this powder. Was unable to locate it on the Winchester site.
There is nothing for sierra in the .204 spread sheet !!!!
i use Alliant powder's is there a site that has good info on that powder?
I think is all to do with the pressures but I'm new and could be wrong. A bigger bullet takes more to make it move so if you use too much powder it exceeds the max. permissible pressure before the bullet is on the move. The only thing that stops any case from experiencing too much pressure is the fact that the bullet does what it should and allows the expanding gases to escape down the barrel. A lighter bullet moves sooner and more quickly allowing the pressure to escape more quickly therefore allowing more powder to be used.I sent them a thank you. They never had any data for the 52gr .223 though but that's OK. I will probably move up in bullet weight and not down. This is kind of off topic but...why is it the lighter bullets use more powder than the heavier ones?
