my post was meant to comment on the previous post before it. "$350-$400". I think anyone would pick it up for that price. I imagine they would sell for about $500

I think this is what Can DOwn was asking for, the top rifle is the original 20" version the bottom rifle is an approximation of a 16.5" barrel.

I hope that Can Am bring this one in, the area I hunt in is mainly bush and a nice short rifle in .308 would be awesome! :D

Thanks for the photochop!
I doubt Canammo can bring in a shorter version of the Scout model ( the 20 inch model above) for less then what a scout costs now in Canada and no way he can bring it in for $400 which is what he was guestimating for the 200 without sights...

I love the look of the shorty above, and a "scout" 308 is on my top priority list. However, realistically, considering I would hunt with this rifle, would a 16" barrel affect the accuracy and performance of the rifle out to the 200-300m range? This would be a perfect rifle for a sheep/goat hunt, but having a custom that falls on it's face around 200m isn't worth the couple inches of barrel. Not trying to stir the pot, I actually want to know. Then I can buy one!!!

I have Stevens 200 in 243 win and it's a great little gun.

To be honest Can-down I have been looking for a short bush carbine like this for sometime so I would be willing to pay the same price for it that the full sized scout costs. I already have one savage and I love it.

This would make a great Rifle for the Canadian Rangers, I definately would buy one if it had a 16" barrel and a 10 round detachable mag.

There is a detachable box magazine conversion kit for Savage & Stevens bolt action rifles. If I recall correctly the capacity is nine rounds for a .308 and the cost is under U.S.$100.

You're losing very little velocity with a 16.5" barrel. It'll do just fine at 300 yards. :D

- Since we are hot on the sons of the T65E3 cartridge case (7.62/308, 358, 243, 7mm08) How about 6.5-08/.260 Remington? Almost a 6.5X55 Swede, and you know how many moose those have taken. Nice and mild when you want it in a 'Bantam' or 'Ladies' rifle, and heavier bullets available when needed. Sweet in a 16" barrel? Not a lot of competing rifles in 260, as well.

- Failing that, 358 Win gets my fun vote. But: the practical side of me says: more people will buy 308 in a 16/16.5 bbl.
