I have a picture of Pat running an X300 at 12:00 in front of his FSB. Maybe he changed his mind.

The "pistol" lights are light and compact, and rugged enough (surefire X300 or streamlight TLR-1).
 
Angry, I learned my lessons with an MP5 with the built in fore-end light that has the integral tape switches. I found that if I wasn't very careful, my thumb would rest on the switch and activate it. Luckily I learned this on training and not in the field.

I've also seen the wires on the tail cap switches snag on all kinds of crap.

I've been playing around with my M3 on my AR and haven't had any issues at all.
 
I was thinking of running a TLR-1 on my tavor + a remote switch. Surefires do look good and you cant doubt the ruggedness of those things but I wonder, is it really worth the extra buck over the TLR-1??

I have a surefire G2 and a Fenix TK11 R2. the TK11 is just a tad more expensive but the difference between both is day and night! Tk11 by far.

The new C4 TLR-1`s are really bright and have the best locking system.
 
You want a shock proof bezel on a weapon's light. Most flashlights that aren't designed to be weapon lights will probably crap out eventually on a gun. I don't think the Fenix are designed to be weapon lights, although they are great flashlights.

read a few posts about failures on guns on ARFcom, I have both Fenix and Surefire. Both are still working although only the Surefire is a dedicated shotgun light. I guess to an extent you get what you pay for.

Problem with the X300 is the plastic mount -which is not confidence inducing. Not sure how it will take a few beating The Larue mount is too high to use at 12.

I like the 9-11 positon - however, I find it I need to pay attention not to discharge the light on the barricade if I want to look around it.

It's incredibly tough, will survive use on a shotgun, and is also really heavy and bulky. You can use it with the included incandescents or substitute a P60L or compatible high-output aftermarket LED drop-ins, making it even more rugged, brighter, and longer-lasting. If you plan on doing no-knock entries with your flashlight instead of a ram, it's great.

I think the only reaosn that the Millennium series is still in use becasue it can take IR filter. However, this could be changing when the Vampire is coming out.

Regular LED doesn't emit IR spectrum so it is useless to NV.

any other suggestion? I dont need a 600$ light but still want something pretty good.
 
I just picked up a surefire millenium with the p60l (LED) bulb in a mount on the EE for 220. You can find them at pretty reasonable prices.

I think the M-series is the only one that allows 200 Lumen out of a incandescent bulb. That's why it needs the "heat dissipation fins."

there are some non-surefire after market 200 Lumen LED conversions around as well these days.
