Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

I heard through the grapevine that a small batch may be on it's way into the country with some of the "offending issues" fixed. I PM'd the member that posted this and he directed me to a board member who seems to know a lot about the Type 97 issue but doesn't say much ( I believe you know who I mean);). I left it at that as I know I wouldn't have gotten any information out of him. No, it wasn't CanAm.

Take this info for what it's worth, which isn't much.

Ok, it's clear that CanAm is not the man who revealed this info... but do we have some sort of assurance that this rumored "small batch of modified T97's" will actually be imported and sold by CanadaAmmo or from another dealer ?
I'm one of those with the full payment already taken on my credit card, and i was about to pull the plug this week, 'cause i really need the cash for an XCR.
Now i'm hesitating. But if i can have some sort of confirmation that : 1) "modified T97's" will actually be sold by CanAm (that is if RCMP doesn't INVENT another trick), and 2) first buyers, with payment already taken in full will have priority... it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Even though I only ordered mine recently I'd take great comfort in seeing those with long standing orders (ie. paid in full) get theirs...then I'd know they're coming (no disrespect to CanAm...I know they're trying and I thank them for it)...and that is a great relief...I'm patient (easy to do when I haven't been charged).

Long standing order here.

September 12, 2008....

Paid in full.. Still waiting.. Have the Chinese scope for it even.. just need the gun to put it on. I knew I should have bought one of the restriced ones...

Any updates from Can-Am? I have not been too active on the board lately.

OUCH! guy! wow!

I feel your pain man!

I just really hope that CBSA/RCMP release this soon. You even got the Chinese Scope for it? wow! you're a collector!

Also, I noticed there are a LOT and I mean LOT of people who pre-ordered this rifle. Would anyone know of the quantity that's being held or what the heck is going on there?

I've only got the $100 deposit on her but i've been in since Feb '09... I was considering pulling out too but this conversation has me wanting to wait a bit longer. Those FS2000's are ###y though.

In 2 Days it will be a year. ill probably mix myself a rye and coke and stare off into the distance imagining what could have been. The un restricted fs2000 can be my rebound because if i order a tavor there will another post like this.

Alright - next time I go to the range I'll take a live action vid of my T97. Just for you and Deckard (he asked me to do one a long time ago). Maybe that will help with the pain of waiting? I'll cheese it up and put some music to it just like this.... :D

The road is paved with good intentions.

*sigh* I just checked my order. I put it through July 8, 2008.

That's pretty sad.

The sad part is that they will not be released by the RCMP/Government , They have classified them as prohibited and those that purchased these rifles from Lever are the only exemptions to the current status and are able retain ownership.
I was in the same boat as you how ever I decided that after waiting a what seemed a lifetime after they arrived that it was time to put it to rest and requested a refund . I still want a T97 however and would gladly pay $2,000.00 for one

Did they actually change the classification? Or is the classification still under review?
