I got an SKS that was frankenpinned, the pin broke loose so now I am left with a magazine I can't use anymore, and there is an ugly ~5/16" 'drain hole' in the pan. how many others out there have the same problem. Whoever thought it was a good idea to pin them that way is a &*^*(%$%@#~ dummy.

It happened to all my SKS's over time that were pinned that way. I filled the hole in with a tig and refinished. You can not tell it was ever pinned. The only thing missing is the original serial on the mag. Just repinned on the follower arm. I found a few 5 round Chinese SKS fixed mags that I use most of the time.

^Thanks for your reply, I am going to have to get one of the 5/5 mags to correct the problem for now. I know there was a member selling the 5/5 fixed magazines, do they work on Russian models, because that's what I have. Best regards Tony.

For the most part I find you have to bend over to get a spare SKS magazine these days, expensive gunsmith repairs are not an option for an SKS really.

The person that was selling them was liberal-hater. I bought one from him,he has since sold out. I find the best places to find them is American gun shows 10 an 5 round mags. Yes they work good in Russian SKS's

Look at the bright side. You now have a 10/10 magazine. Don't know if it is legal, though.

You guys talking about the built in mag that a normal SKS comes with, or an actual external mag?

You talking about the pin originally going through the bottom of the mag, or through the side?

Yes they are talking about the fixed SKS magazine.
actually they are talking about the method the russians use to limit the mag to five rounds.
The russians weld a 3oz chunk of metal to the bottom of the magazine which will break off sooner or later, from the recoil, when the rifle is shot.

If you are looking to sell your broken mag, cheap of course.....LOL I will take it.:D

- you mean my 'Russian SKS magazine parts kit?' I think they will be nuking the thread any time now, and I will probably get the ban hammer. lol :D

Edit: to any SKS owners, getting one of these is a must sooner or later you will need it to dismantle the magazine lol. :D
