Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

Class action civil lawsuit maybe? Damages for loss enjoyment or property...??? Might not stick too well because Canam being the good guys they are, have offered to refund folks for their Type 97 payment. I'm in it for the long haul though...

I can't speak for Canam but if you want to pick a fight with big brother over firearms, you are running the risk of being put on the wrong side of the ledger by other govt agencies. Big brother doesn't like being challenged on firearms and he will find a way to make your business or personal life miserable.

I can't think of very many cases where gun owners ended up on the winning side. Some of the old timers here would recall that one former gun shop owner was driven to suicide over his squabble with the fed. A few either went to jail, were financially ruined or ended up waving the white flag and gave up.

That fight began long ago.

Yes, and best of luck to you in your fight. Being in the firearm business is a high risk venture reserved for the daring. Do watch your six. The fed can be a nasty bunch.

They threw the first punch. Completely unprovoked, at that. They deserve every bit of resistance.

Justice delayed is justiced denied.

Sf- you forget one thing. Let's say there's a hundred of these #######s in the RCMP trying to further their agenda. No, let's say there's a thousand.

That's peanuts. There's millions of us. If even 1% of us gave a hundred bucks, that would be a good sized war chest.

I would donate $$ to a class action suit. Would you?

It's obvious to me the RCMP doesn't have a leg to stand on.

FYI Our guns are even more different from full auto than the first batch. The first batch had FA markings from what I have seen.

Also, do not listen to the lies about them arriving as full auto. That is the line the FRT lab is feeding the higher ups to justify the seizure.

The lab converted them, they say, within the terms of Hasselwander. But they will not release the report, so who knows.

You guys should see my ATI file. Lies on top of lies. Even CBSA was baffled by the FRT labs' reports.

I have held the litiny of sordid details back, hoping a political solution can be found. We'll see.

If you get a chance, please contact Vic Toews and express your disgust.

Thank You CanAm for the update. I jumped on the T97 November 11th, 2008... I then waited 11 months to let the issue sort itself out & wrote letters to voice my disgust with the shipments seizure... In October of 2009, I jumped on the Tavor order & as of last night, I have my tracking # for my Tavor!!!

All that to say, I will be calling & putting my name in the hat again for a T97. I will leave my deposit with you until the issue is sorted out!

T97, T97, T97!!!

Cheers
Jay

We'll see their next move in two weeks.

I'd bet good money they are going the confiscation route.

Compensation???....pfft, I'm not holding my breath....

It's too bad guys, the T97 really is a fun rifle.

Very unhappy on how this has dragged on, I am assuming the shipment docked in BC near Vancouver during the gangbanging ####e that was going on last year?
They must have thought this would boost their ego in solving the gang crime of the city. Now they have even prohibited the possession of body armor too.

This is not a good sign folks...
I have a feeling this is all Olympics related also.

Oh, you don't know the half of it.

The issue is it looks scary and is a bullpup. Bullpups are responsible for hundreds of attacks on people every year...........o sorry that was pitbulls not bullpups. Maybe that is the RCMP's issue....Someone should straighten them out. Ok I am going to preorder.

As a pitbull owner I must say your facts are as bad as the anti's.I know it was a joke but not funny i fight on that front as well.

And I have a 148 lb Rotweiller so whats the point. It was a joke and if you cannot stop and laugh once in a while then ..........The whole point is that a gun is an inanimate object adn cannot do one single thing on its own. I can place a loaded firearm on a table and in 100 years come back and it will still be there unless an outside force acts on it such as a person. The dog discussion is far less simple and this is not the place for it.

Little Update...

Two weeks have come and gone. I talked to the registry today. The lady I talked to said a decision has been made and that they will "announce it on Wed March 17th". She said that they will take "action" on that announcement at that time. She would not say anything more than that. I was told I would be contacted on that date.

Translation (IMO): They are going to confiscate the rifles. What else would there be to take "action" on?

It's important to note that this conversation took place in the context of the Lever Arms rifles - of which I purchased one.

Bro, I feel for you. Total Bs, no other thing to say. I was jealous of your type 97, now, not so much. I have managed to build up some jealousy regarding your Brugger and Thomet though, it's next on my list of purchases I think... Hang in there, maybe weds news will be good...

Seriously, a statement like that doesn't bode well. Why wait a week to make an announcement, that will require "action" unless they needed the time to gear up and develop a confiscation plan.

What a load of crap.
