I have been thinking about getting an SKS ever since the Yugo M59/66's came out years ago from Marstar, but just kept putting it off. These days I am starting to appreciate the value of a rifle like the SKS which is cheap to buy, cheap to feed, and is fun. I have been reading up on the SKS, and I am getting dizzy, and bogged down in all the details in trying to decide which rifle would be best for me.
The bottom line for me:
- rifle made of quality materials
- nice fit and finish
- new or unissued (not refurbished, etc..)
- uses all standard SKS parts that are easy to find
I know there are, Yugos which are all surplus, Russians which are all surplus, and Chinese of which some are commercial, and some are surplus. Then within those countries there are certain factories which may or may not produce nicer rifles, and then certain years which may or may not have yielded nicer rifles. I think that all this info overload was part of the reason why I shyed away from the SKS in the past lol
So what would you SKS masters recommend?
Thanks!
