Just ordered my Tavor today the waiting game begins

Shot mine earlier today. Whoever mounted the Mepro sight (the visibility of the reticle was better than I thought BTW) needs to get fired. This is going to pull down the reputation of the rifle and the maker of the sight. The sight wobbles when even light pressure is applied to it. Someone else mentioned this as well in another thread. I was hoping that there was some spring or something that would help fix/return the sight in position after recoil/firing. I was wrong.

Got some great groups, but mean point of impacts differed considerably (7-8"). This depended on if the sight was left in it's "up wobble" position prior to firing, or its "down wobble" position, with corresponding impact changes.

Are there some hidden screws somewhere I can tighten to fix this problem? Or do I have to resort to taking the barrel off and spending $$ for a rail and another sight (looks like that's pretty standard SOP anyways:( )

Or is there some sort of shim available?

That sounds odd:confused:. Mine will place a 1.5" group easily at 25 metres if I shoot prone, but at 50 metres the group is about the size of a closed fist...which is also the size of the dot, so its not the rifle...its the big honkin dot. All with 55gr. white box remington ammo. The sight easily returns to where it was when you push on it...and it feels spring loaded... cause I tried just that. Could it be your cheek weld?

Ask ThrottleMonkey what he did. He had that same problem and last I spoke with him it was fixed.

Yeah the rail bolts are loose. 7mm wrench fits in there and you just need to snug them up until the wobble is gone.

Took 2 minutes. No disassembly required, you can sneak a wrench in there. It's the bolts holding the rail onto the barrel.

The erratic results were definately the sight as I also shot off the bench with same result.

Thank you so much:). I'll give the 7mm wrench a try (I think I see some bolts on the left side just under the handguard).

The "block" that's on top of the barrel seems solid enough...it's where the mepro affixes to it thats wobbly.

Don't worry yourself with proper repair procedures!, just jam the tail of an accu wedge between the sight and mounting block.;)

I just pulled that extra trigger spring out. Lightened the pull up a bit, but not too noticeable. I will have to try it at the range back to back with one that's not done.

I've got a tracking number!

Congratulations!!!...I'll put in another order for one of these politically correct 'I just got my Israeli rifle' T-shirts:

Well, the rail bolts don't seem to be the problem as the mounting block feels solid. It's where the mepro sight sits on top of this is where the wobble is.

It looks like my sight doesn't spring back as your sight does, ViktorF.

So, for the time being I have indeed put pieces of an altered accuwedge in that 2-3mm gap between the mepro sight and "mounting block". Since the Mepro sight was slightly canted to one side, this has been partly corrected by putting the wedge under the short side.
The rubber padding of the accuwedge has both tightened the wobble and hopefully makes the sight bounce back to it's original position.

We'll see when I shoot it next. Otherwise, I'll have to see if Chris has a solution.

Check for this problem when you take delivery!

psssssst

It's a good feeling isn't it? Your cutting edge, thorn in the anti-gunners side, lieberal scaring, BEAUTIFUL non-restricted TAVOR, will soon be home to you!

Have fun! I'm off to the range, with mine, this weekend!!! YAHOO!

Cheers
Jay

hmmm. That certainly blows goats doesnt it?:(

I've got a manufactures clearance $65 dlask rail that I may be putting on this weekend depending on my spare time. If I see anything adjustable etc. Ill let you know. As for Paulinator, your t-shirt will be ready to ship in December.:p

I just installed a Dlask rail on mine, there are three Torx head screws ( T-25) under the mount that hold the Mepro on the mount.I would have a look at one of those, they are fairly snug so use a good torx bit.

HTH,
