SKS and CZ58 appearances in the movies...

I don't know why, but I always find these threads fun... maybe because it combines my two favourites past times, guns and movies. This one might be a bit more challenging than a similar 1911, or M14 thread though.

In which movies have you seen SKS and CZ58 rifles make an appearance?

I was going to make it SKS only, but figured that might make the thread a bit sparse, and the cz58 has a really big following here.


I'll start:

We Were Soldiers (SKS) - during the ambush at the very beginning of the movie you could see a few of the Vietnamese soldiers were using SKS rifles

Saw part of that rediculous movie "Golden Compass" and the only redeemable points were the MosinNagants and the SKS's.

Also, a lot of the rifles used in "Red Dawn" were actually Vz58's.

SKS seems to be a common prop for those portraying NVA soldiers, and sometimes Viet Cong.

The VZ-58, strangely, is in no less than three Bond movies: Octopussy (as mentioned above), The Living Daylights, and For Your Eyes Only.

"Dimond Dogs" low budget American movie set in outer Mongolia. American saientists looking for Buddist Relic. SKS is used by the main Character as a sniping rifle also used by robbers and vilans in that movie. For low budget movie is actualy quite good

Loved the movie, but didn't love the fact that they were using Commiefornia friendly SKS's that had the bayonets removed....

Kinda killed some of the realism for me..... but then again, maybe bubba lives in Cambodia too...
