Reliable Gun reliable?

Reliable is great.

A real example of what good customer service does for business in case you are wondering why they are so busy.

Politeness and patience are free to give and what you get back is loyal, repeat customers.

Compare this to other stores. Enough said.

It's a great store, good experiences with Shane and whatnot, but there's been a couple of employees that have been extremely rude. I never see them around any more, though, thankfully.

My experiences were less than stellar. I first went in to buy the Restricted course manual to challenge the PAL test. It wasn't terribly busy at the time, but nobody paid me any attention, even when I loitered the same spot for minutes, trying to make eye contact with one of the staff to at least acknowledge that existed. Yes, I get that they're busy, but it doesn't take much to at least nod in my direction to reassure me that i've been noticed and not forgotten.

The second and third times I've been there, the service remained exactly the same. I guess if you're lucky enough or patient enough to sit and wait for someone to finally engage with you, then you might get good service. the third and final time, I just walked out. The store was almost empty, for a change, but I still ended up doing the unpopular-kid-at-the-prom shuffle around the store, hoping for some service. No luck.

IMHO, their prices aren't worth it (799$ for a CZ P-07 Duty (!!!) @ Reliable, compared to 749$ at Blue Line, or 608$ at Elwood Epps).

I'll give my business to two other local stores that have treated me much better - Lever Arms and Italian Sporting Goods.

these guys are totally legit.. and i would deal with them but, i guess they are VERY busy... even though i've been part of large bulk ammo buys from them... my experience with their service is very similar to what Milofficer, above has described...

Sounds similar to my one and only experience there. I stood around for quite a while before I was acknowledged. When I did get help I got the distinct feeling they were in a hurry to get rid of me. It wasn't terribly busy and some customers - regulars by the looks of it - were getting most of the attention. It wasn't the worst service in the world and they were reasonably polite but it didn't make a great first impression. Sadly it seems to be typical of a lot of gun stores in the lower mainland from my experience.

+1 to that. It seemed like there was a good number of regulars, and they did get a lot of service. Even if they were just chatting or talking shop, that seemed to take more importance than a customer wanting to actually BUY something.

Reliable is the only gunstore I'll visit and do business with in Vancouver. Even though I was the only one in the store I've been left standing at the till with $300-400 worth of stuff many times at Italian and was so disgusted that I'd never gone back.

I will have to agree with some of the others about trying to get attention. I have had to wait and make myself really obvious, I try to make eye contact so they know I am waiting and not just looking.

Someone brought up Lever. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER they were actually NICE! I was stunned on my last visit there, to be fair I am pretty sure the asian gentleman behind the counter was the owner and the 2 white guys behind the counter were on their best behavior :)

I've tried them once. Was not overly impressed with their customer service. I enquired about a rifle on the web site. Asked for more pics and a description. My answer was no other pics, come in and see it. Kinda far for a day trip from Ontario.

I envy you guys that have this store local to you. It seems to be generally well liked but my "comedy of errors" continues with these guys two weeks after buying a gun over the phone from Ontario.
I called last week to get a tracking number. The clerk could not find anything so I asked if they would call me back. Almost a week later they had not called so I just called again... "They forgot to ship it" was the exact words the clerk said. Good thing I called last week eh?
What next?

As already noted in a previous post, they are an old fashioned gun store in which most of their sales are done the "old fashoned way" i.e over the counter. And they are busy almost all the time.

They are great, but very busy. A buddy works there on weekends when he isn't at his other job.

I know the owners well and they are really good honest guys. If you had poor service or felt you were missed or overlooked I can guarantee the guys didn't do it on purpose. Running a small business can be taxing at times (I know) and sometimes customers (unfortunately) fall through the cracks.
Pete.....

John is cool and i usually deal with him. Reliable has one of the better service (compare to lever lol). Their price might be slightly higher than some of the dealers in other parts of Canada. But it is only decent dealer we got in the lower mainland. If you are buying s**t online go for the other dealers.
