Lets see some pics of your Tacticool VZ 58/858s

remember red dot limits you to 50-100m... unless you get some really expansive one like Docter or trijicon.. with 1 MOA..... my burris is 4 MOA.. and it almost covers 50% of the target at 100m.. so if you go further... i think it might cover the whole target... :) when scope... brings the target right to you.... and lets you have an easier shot placement...

No, a red dot does not "limit" you to 50-100m.

I don't have any problem hitting 300m silhouettes with my 4moa Aimpoint on my AR. You just need to know which part of the dot to hold on which part of the target.

Any limit is operator imposed.;)

that is quite possible... too.. :) i still got lots to learn about red dots.... so which part of the dot should i aim on wich part of the target... lets say at 200m, if the dot was ajusted to 100m

but it does cover a good half of the target at 100m... what do you do then...?

Well, If I was shooting a 12" circular target at 100m I'd just center the 4 moa dot in the middle and shoot. Alternatively, you could zero your dot for a 6 o'clock hold which might be better for getting a consistent aiming point.

They're not precision-shooting optics but they're more than capable of hitting the target if you do your part.

As for "where do I aim" questions, that's up to you to figure out.

The longest shot I made with an Eotech was just under 600m.

It was at a spot I have shot many times, and I could ballpark the holdover very accurately.

It was not the ideal optic for that shot, obviously. But the point is that a good shooter with a bit of red dot time in should not find the red dot a problem out to at least 200m. With x39 the problem I think you would encounter would be a need for holdover at anything much past that, which would begin to slow you down.

With .223 I don't see red dots as being severely problematic for intermediate distance shooting. If you are only shooting known targets, anyway. I would be a little hesitant to be IDing targets at 400m with no magnification, personally. But if you are shooting paper anyway...

Well back to being confused I go lmao. Meantime I bought that mount on EE, now just need to find a screaming deal on a russian posp...

my humble contribution :)

awaiting EoTech 511 to go on the upper hand guard in two weeks :dancingbanana:

not that all the other rifles here arent frikken sweet... but this one tops the lot imho .. thats all ###

Now the only question is 6x24 6x42 or 8x42. I know nothing but bigger numbers sound better so 8x42? lmao

In my opinion 8x42 is too big for CZ858. 6x24 fixed magnification or variable 2-6x24 would be more suitable for this rifle. But it's always the shooters choice...

variable eh? That sounds like fun. I also don't want it to weigh a ton so I would take your advice. what does x42 vs x24 mean? As you can tell I am an expert in this field!

ive been debating red dot vs scope for a month lol, think I settled on scope because at 200 yards the dot covers the target and im a crappy shot as im still new at this.

I would have to agree. A red dot without magnification seems to be perfect for these rigs.

Take the 2-6x24. You will not be dissapointed .

2-6 is zoom
x24, x32, x42 are diameters of the lens..

Actually, it's skateboard tape carefully cut with a razor :) (You put it on oversized, then shave off edges for perfect fit).

However, I actually removed the upper handguard rail. Coarse, Medium and Fine sandpaper. A large mirror and about 30minutes of elbow grease. Once the top rail is removed, the tape goes on.

My only complaint with this furniture is the goofy upper rail. I hate the channel they put in the middle since it never lines up with the front sight post; it looks tacky.

Much better this way IMO. If I had some TAN skateboard tape, would be even better.
