Glock 17 vs. XD9 Tactical vs. S&W MP

I Agree that you can't go too far wrong with any of them... And, like it's been said, it comes down to ergonomics and personal preference.

I'm partial to the XD or XDM as they a super reliable and Springfield's customer service is second to none if you ever do have a problem or need sevice.

I also like the fact that it can be field striped in less than 15 seconds and takes only about twice that long to put back together.

My wife has an XD9 with over 3000 rounds through it without a single mis-feed. That includes various handloads, including a lot of lead semi-wad-cutters as well as a few boxes of Telsa steel case stuff. Even when loaded a little on the light side for her, it still eats up whatever she feeds it.

Thier slogan is "where you point is where you shoot", and that pretty much sums up the accuracy as well.

I will never give up my M&P!!! I'm probably close to the mid to high thousands down the pipe with no failures at all. Glocks are fine but I agree with the table leg grip comparison. I have not had a chance to shoot an XDM but they have all the right stuff.

Really you can't go wrong with any of the 3.

in the last 11 years of teaching I've seen about 15 or so XDs come through class. Not one has ever been reliable, not one, not in 9mm not in .40, again not one. As well not a single owner of those guns still owns one, they've all sold them.
As for the M&P and Glock? which one fits your hand better? which one feels more natural? which one do you like the look of better? that's the one to get.

I went Beretta M9A1. Why no Berettas or Sigs? If you want to keep the cost down, I highy recommend you try the Sig Pro / Sig 2022. Can't recommend it enough, shot like a dream and is significantly cheaper than the P226, amazing gun! Check it out if you can!

If i didnt have a glock i would have bought a 92sf

Thanks, everyone, for the great responses...except for you, Zephram...I completely forgot about the Sig 2022. Now I've got four to consider. :)

The last handgun I shot was the glock 17, and i can't recommend it enough. IMO it seems to point very naturally, it has great accuracy, and is very reliable. If it were me I'd go for glock, my 2nd choice would have to be the MP just because it looks so badass.

IMO if you are considering the Sig 2022 then just get that, i definitely think it trumps the Glock 17 and I definitely think it shoots better. I don't like glock triggers and I DO like external hammers.

I read a post here a while ago, some guy said essentially "get the gun you always wanted. Can you think of a handgun like from tv or the movies that you always liked? Get that one and you will be happy".

To tell you the truth thats what I did and its definitely good advice. You will not be upset if you buy the gun you always wanted. For me it was the Beretta 92 and I couldn't be happier, its just a bonus that it shoots super accurate and cleans easily. Its big and a bit heavy, but I like it that way and I've got big hands so it fits me like a dream. Serious looker too IMO, the lines are outstanding. Can't think of a better looking handgun.

GL!

Help. I just can't make the decision. And please don't say all three, cause I may be tempted (and broke).
I own all three guns you listed, I would go with the XD but better yet would be the new XDM in 9mm. Have put over 3000 rounds through it and had NO Problems what so ever. If the $1000 price tag is too high the Glock 17 would be my second up.

You should consider fit, feel, comfort, and ease of access to mag release and safety. If If you plan to shoot any of the action games the cost of mags, and other aftermarket parts should be considered next.

Made the decision and purchased the Glock 17 RTF2. If all goes well I should get it by the end of next week.

Thanks for all the advice, folks.
