Best Calibre and gun for denfense against bears

Hey guys. I've tried to search for this but nothing has come up, so it seems as this is not a popular issue. I'm sure more people must have the same question so i'll ask it.

What Calibre and type of gun do you think would be best for bear defense? I'm talking about when a grizzly or polar bear is charging down your neck, whats the best gun to use that has huge knockdown power and can also be easily used while the brown stuff is running down your leg?

Like I said, I searched for this and nothing came up, which surprises me

the best defense isn't a gun of any kind , it's my ex mother in law ....

ear plugs and earmuffs are manditory if you choose to go this route .

i am also not responsible for the defoliation of the surrounding plants and tree's and the death / maming of any humans / animals in the imediate area not wearing hearing protection .
 
for long distances( 300 yards and up) a LOT of people are partial to one of the big magnums or equivilent- i have a bar in 338 that's for just the occasion- but the other side of the equation is BOTH bullet placement and cartridge- in my case a speer 275 semi-spitzrt travelling at around 2700 fps give or take- which they don't make anymore- my second choice is a well loaded factory 250- these things take tremendous amounts of powder, and aren't easy on your shoulder , but they bring death , destrustion and a SHOCK WAVE out to about 600 yards and beyond
 
Personally , I'm partial to an old single shot cooey shooting CB shorts. It's all about shot placement ya know? Single shot forces you to take your time and aim properly, and CB shorts keep the noise and muzzle blast down to reduce flinching.

I'd use a 375 Ruger because it is the king of all kings and there will never be another king that will ever unseat it because it is such an awesome king that it will never die and it will be king forever and ever and ever and ever and ever or until the lieberals get back into power and confiscate it because they fear the king so much due to it's unbridled power and when /if they finally ever get back into power the king will have killed everything in the history of the world...

did I mention that it is king making it the only cartridge that any of us should own... :p

I agree except I highly suggest using the 22 shot shells as the little pellets don't damage the fur much so it makes the rug so much nicer.
