who as moded is 597 VTR ??? NOW WITH PICS !!!! TIPS & TRICKS

Range report # 5 after 2500 rds.

I went to the range yesteday and put another 500 rds downs range with the 597vtr, but this time with expensive REMINGTON YELLOW JACKET 33 gr. VS the winchester wildcat, federal bulk, remington subsonic & cyclone.

Aftre polishing, polishing and polishing again the internals (guide rods, bolt ,hammer) the vtr found the yellow jacket to feed extremely well ! there were no light strikes, stove pipes, with the stock magazine !!!! YEAHH !!!!!!

For the remington 30 rders they were ok but did not improve that much ! A couple of double feed and some times no feed at all !

afer 2500 rds a realy strat having confidence back in the 597 vtr !!!!
Now i realy need to look for better mags and this time in the 25 rders range and i will order a volquarsten extracter just to make sure it works better !!!

How do you change the stock ? my buffer tube is too big for the stocks I have laying around. Will the 597 accept an AR buffer tube?

You can't use the 597 VTR tube....get one of the stock adapters from Stormwerks , then you need a stock c/w tube...no buffer needed....

Hey Nick, it has to be a comercial buffer tube. I bought a DPMS one from brownells 6 postion adjustable then pt a Magpul CTR on it ;)

Ooops...disregard my last post...I was thinking of my AR180B, not the VTR....

You can use a Milspec tube, but you obviously need a Milspec stock to match....

thanks guys but, commercial or milspec ? :D

Someone needs to work on those fugly 30 rounder !!! I have an old MP5 mag (airsoft) laying around and one of these days I'll try to mod it.

Very Cool.....

When these first came on the market, I called around to a couple dealers and asked some LEO friends, who all told me it would come in as Restricted, so I bought the VTR and never looked back....

LOL I was gonna try to mod an AR mag!! Yeah the commercial or milspec just dictates which stock you use. Any stock tube should thread right in you'll need a back up nut though this is the one I used http://ww w.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=26426/Product/COMMERCIAL_6_POSITION_CARBINE_STOCK_TUBE

Kick Ass man! Looks great!

Couple of questions for you.

1) What type of hand guard do you have on your VTR? And would you mind telling me where you got it (i have similar plans for my VTR)

2) How did you remove the stock hand guard?

3) What exactly is that at the end of the muzzle? Where did you get it? And did you install it yourself?

Thanks in advance for the info...
And again, great looking gun! Cannot wait to see the finished product...looking great so far!

Anyone havingFTF/FTE issues with cheapy bulk ammo? Is there a fix for those that do have issues?

Adjust your guide rods and buy a Volquartsen Extactor and all your worries are gone. Mine worked with the stock extractor 98% of the time but hey for under $20 why not eh?
