My rant @ guys selling their Marlins

You can I guess mark the title "Sold" which saves people time by not clicking on it but if you really wanna do some good, once you made a deal, get the guys email contact or phone number and mark the damn thing as "delete" so we can take it off the EE and there won't be 5 pages of Marlins.

Just marking a gun as sold and forgeting about it means it floats around in the EE for awhile. I'm not innocent either, I know I've done it but luckily I can go and delete my own, hahahahaha.

No, I became so lost and embittered amongst the ads that I gave up all hope, and have henceforth sworn off Marlins forever.
Great! More Marlins for me! :dancingbanana:

But I do agree. I takes a while to find something that is not yet sold in the pages of stale ads. Guilty as charged, but I do mark them sold which renders them useless for research purposes.
One rule of thumb though, if it's Marlin, it will be sold in a matter of days, if not hours, often minutes.

Click on edit two times.
Click under title.
There is a option that sais Pls Remove.
So! when deal is complete the Mods can remove it.
Easy!

Some times it's nice to see older sold prices, but hey...CGN cannot be an all you can eat bandwidth buffet either.....getting the ads deleted saves space....can you imagine if all the sold ads were deleted???? WOW!!! I would like the ability to Nuke my own ad. (Or get the ability to troll for sold items and nuke them for CGN.....I'm always in the EE anyways.....lol)

We have to be courteous to the owner as well guys.....:)

Then maybe we should have a couple of SOLD forums. When the ad is marked please remove then the moderators can move it to the appropriate SOLD forum.

This should please both sides of this. The side that, like me, is tired of leafing through dozens of ads to find SPF hidden at the bottom. And those who, like me, would like to be able so see that market price of firearms that have sold.

Moderators feel free to bash my idea.

Seeing the asking price is nice after an item is sold, however I find that most replace the price with SPF so the ads are useless anyhow.

the old ones are useless because the price is replaced with spf.......useless.

If I had the power/permissions I would just search for the keyword spf or sold and delete anything that is "sold" and allow the spf for a month or so before deleting them. Of course all this takes time so I cant blame the mods for not trading an afternoon outdoors to sort through EE ads that are not properly edited....and I guess we are all guilty of not always editiing an add, hell I may have in there still floating around.

Shrek, you're right: nobody uses the "search forum" gem. What was I thinking? No wonder I fail at life continually...

But in all seriousness, yes, what I tend to hate is sifting through the ads, only to find "SPF" either in small print at the bottom, or in lieu of a price. Useless on all accounts. I know that when I've sold something, the entire add gets changed to "delete", the title is changed to "delete", and the WTS thingy is changed to "Pls. Remove". Very rarely is the ad up for more than a day after that. So cudos to the mods for such fast removal.

What I was getting at though was I kinda thought it was funny how the winchesters, mausers, etc seem to be fine with regards to dead ads, but the marlins turn up 5 pages of crap. It made me laugh. (But then I started to cry after my weekend was ruined.)

yes, you are guilt, you have a SPF ad couple of months old.

you are forgetting the ads with multiple items, cant just search and delete cos some of the items will be sold and some are still available.

im in agreement with ben hunchak... the ee has some of the most over priced guns ive seen.. when i bought my brand new glock 17 i paid $634 taxes and shipping in from jo-brooks (a site sponsor) and everybody was trying to sell theres for $700+ used.. I would seriously check out the sponsor sights for your market research.. but hey thats just my two cents.. :)

Actually there is one only you guys can't see it.

It's for when boneheads who think the mods are idiots get a thread deleted thinking they can make a new one to get them back to the top of the page before their week is up. Usually this gets them booted out of the EE and we have the last laugh.

I did a quick search on the EE and came up with two this morning that appear to still be available. I'd love to have a 336 in .30-30 to scope. Maybe have to wait to see if the tax man is good to me this year or not first though...........

NAA.

If they want to save space, have an auto delete that nukes any ads that haven't been BTT'd in 3 months...Once all those SOLD ads reach 3 months old, they will disappear...

If you're talking about the Sako.....The add is a couple months old but I sold the rifle recently (the Ad was edited march 24th) and shipped the rifle last week and unless the buyer says all is good then its still SPF as it can go back up for sale if returned for some reason .
You're right about mulitple ads.....they just need to be policed by the guys putting them up.
