Has anyone had any experience with these. I am not starting this thread with the intent of slagging Milarm or this mount but I am curious as to the experience of members with this mount, thanx. Phil.

Overpriced. Overpriced. Overpriced.
It's pretty similar in makeup, design, and function as the other cheap aluminum mounts.
It's also very chunky and sits way too high.

just my 2 cents...

Now that you have mentioned, I have to see it. Reason being, last one I had (can't remember what make it was) was low and every time the empty case was ejected it bounced right back in front of the charging bolt, did this repeatedly. So sitting high might not be a bad thing after all. But as I said, have to see what it looks like. This might solve for the problem I had with the old one.

You're probably talking about the ARMS 18, trimming bolt springs can fix the jamming issue. If you're looking for a higher mount try a smith or sadlak.

:)

airborne or not, all sadlak's have the angle IIRC, and the scope mount-bolt jam can happen anyway, first hand experience

Sadlak Jams

After thousands of rds . with a Sadlak Airbourne -

NO scope mount induced failures to eject -

However - it can happen with ANY scope mount, the lower ones more frequently.

Caused by - dirty gas piston, dirty chamber, grit in ejection spring or ejector, a fluke brass bounce, a fluke load, etc. etc.

I have had an ejecting hull bounce off a scope and back into the chamber with a stripper clip guide mount ( nothing over the ejection area except a high scope , the brass hit the windage turret )

x2 but i do love to sit and watch ol' gord talk to the stupid people that come into his shop
not sure all there names on that shop but at least one of them rides a very tall
horse and tries to make people feel and look stupid. I got a 10 minute lecture about how a certain AR part wouldn't fit a rifle I had. He compared 2 parts in his possesion and told me they were not compatable. He didn't compare the pieces as closely to mine. He was full on argueing with me about this and he was the expert and I was just a stupid customer!
So I bought the part that " wouldn't fit" and the tool I needed to install it,
went outside to my truck and installed it.
What I should of done is walked back inside the store with the rifle and shown him who was actually the stupid one. I'm not sure if I'll spend another nickel there. They aren't gonna help anyone want to get into the sport of shooting.
Sorry to hijack the thread!

all my dealing have been with chris at pnd...he treats me and my group well. i can say the same for gord as well. both were very willing to help us out with our shoot as well

Getting back to the OP's orig question: Phill.....i purchased a cheap aluminum M14 mount from Milarm a couple of yrs ago. Not sure if its the one your asking about. Pics?

Anyway......the item I bought ($70), had 3-point connection, was aluminum & flopped around everytime I shot it. Not impresed. Have since replaced with an Arms 18 from you.

Thanx for the info. This got a little off topic in some of the other posts. Phil.

For the umpteenth millionth time, the Chinese bolt springs are out of spec. You need to either trim them (I might have it backwards, but I think it was 3 coils from the ejector and 2 from the extractor) or replace with USGI.

The extractor spring on an M14 is the same as an M1 garand one, if that help. The ejector spring is different though.

Brownells does have them, SAI M1A copies of USGI springs. They work fine.
