Have had one on order for 2 months now...still waiting and yes they are restricted. Aparently they are waiting on the RCMP to issue FRL numbers for them. MP 15 22 seems to be hard to come by

That is the whole problem.... They have not Issued the FRT# as of today!

So it is still up in the air if it will be Restricted or Non-Restricted. The FRT is how they tell us if it is Restricted or not. I don't know where you got your info but they don't know any better than anybody else..... What they did was 'guess' and pass it off as fact.

So yea, basically if you have had one on order for the last 2 months (or 6) so has every single other dealer in the whole frikken country! The distributors can not ship the firearm(s) to the dealers untill the FRT# is issued saying it is legal for sale in Canukistan.

So no matter who you are or what you do..... If you want one of these you have to wait.... just like the rest of us!

They were labeled restricted in passing, there is no FRT claiming a status yet....they know they are not allowed to go restricted based on variant law, but they do NOT want to go non-restricted as a matter of 'in house policy' IMHO.

EVERY DEALER I ASK HAS TOLD ME THEY ARE RESTRICTED though, and it seems the distributor must be passing along bad information he got from an overzealous RCMP tech-weenie in regards to an official status....THIS IS FALSE AS OF YET....(unless I have just not heard the FRT result yet???)

And it's an FRT number, not FRL......FYI BFF.

Just got an email from a dealer bout the M&P1522. And as ppl have said, it hasn't been classified by the RCMP, and apparently won't be.
Seems to me that the RCMP found a nice loop-hole to go one step worse than Prohibited.
Long as they refuse to put a classification in, they can't exist legally in canada.

Not that I'm aware of... But I've got lots of hopes and dreams left for the gov't to crush So why not add this to the list.

I really hope the whole theory listed previously that they're waiting for the supreme court decision on the Henderson case... but I don't think it'll be quite that simple.

I'm also hoping that killing the long gun registry will be a step in the right direction, followed by a few more steps too... AR style rifles as non restricted would be great (was there ever a better medium-long range gopher gun invented?). any semi-auto .22 regardless of how it looks being non restricted.. oh, and CCW in canada.. that'd be nice too. So only 3 wishes really.. Think Santa can deliver this year? ...me neither

Well it might be time to think about a ruger sr 22 or the remington.... I have pre paid for the mp 15 22 and have that money tied up. could have bought an SKS and a whole case of ammo and been shooting for the last 2 months...lol. BTW..thanks for correcting me on the FRT issue...My local gun shop said they would be restricted...but they have no way of knowing for sure until that number is issued.

Got my money back from the mp22 and bought an SKS, 1120 rounds of ammo a pistol grip stock and still came out $140 cheaper...woo hoo...going shooting saturday! Hope the others dont have to wait too long for the mp 22's.
