Just wondering what your guys thoughts are of the 2.
Gonna buy one for sure and cant seem to make my mind up. Rifle is going to be in 22-250, and 80% of the time its used at the range.
Was leaning towards the HB Tikka, But heard the A7's shoot awful well.
Just wondering if the A7 would shoot as well or maybe better then the HB Tikka.
Dont wanna buy the HB if its not gonna be anymore accurate!

For a range gun / varmint gun I would go for the HB. Dont' get me wrong I have an A7 an I like it but If you're going to be shooting long strings might at the range may as well have an HB....the A7 is nice for weight considerations and does shoot well but its apples in oranges to me.....They are both designed to accomplish different things.

My 22-250 is varmint type HB and I havent been able to even warm up the barrel.....mind it weighs a ton so If Im walking around Ill take the A7 over it anyday.

If it's going to be a range gun for punching paper.
Go with the Tikka. Ever think of the .223 over the 22-250...?
What are you going to shoot@ 100M ? 200M? 300M?

I just sold a really nice older like new BDL HB in .243 .....LOL

tikka.

Ya its mostly gonna be used for range purposes...
I'm just wondering if I go with the HB how much of a curse(cause of weight) it will be to carry the odd day in the woods.

Both shoot awsome but I think the advice is correct the HB will definately be the better choice for the range.

I own the Varmint in .223 and am very happy with it. It shoots sub moa with factory and handloads at 100 yards. I have head shotted magpies at 150 yards with it and hit gophers at 200 too. Both times off a bipod. The rifle makes shooting easy-- it's a winner, buy it.
The A7 is a whole different thing. It shoots really well too, but not better than the Varmint.
I would go with .223 as 22-250 is higher velocity and will wear the barrel faster, but I don't think it's a bad caliber choice either.

If and when my barrel is worn out I'll have no problems replacing it...
Pretty sure it will be paid for by then!:dancingbanana:

True, but it will also heat up faster too and so you'll have to wait longer between shooting sprees on gopher colonies. :D
I don't think you can lose on either caliber in the end.

Edit: you're in NB so no gophers for you (unless you come out to visit me-- I'll hook you up)! lol!

Hey!
my local gun store has a Tikka Super Varmint in .222
NIB 995.00 + taxes.

Not sure but i think thats a good deal.........?

The Super Varmit is going for around $17 and change around here!!
But I think they are but ugly with the big round adjustable cheek piece dial :jerkit:

For accuracy ........ buy a Savage!

Rifle is going to be in 22-250, and 80% of the time its used at the range.
I bought a Savage VLP HB 223 for a range gun and have a couple sporters 22/250 for deer hunting and coyotes.

For range use, the 22/250 heats up the bbl faster and eats up a fair bit more powder. A smaller case make more sense for plinking.

Are you reloading?
