Hi there was wondering if anyone knows anything about a 270 Husqvarna?? My grandfather passed away and left this to me.. Will this be good enough for Elk..Any info on it would be nice it also has nitro on it.. thanks all

Awesome rifle man. I've only shot a few huskys but they were all top notch. x2 on the "It'll be all you'll ever need" comment.

While Schultz & Larsen rifles are my favorite bolt action, the Husqvarna rifles are a close second. My 'Northern European Connection'

The Husqvarna Light Weight 30-06 I inherited, left to me from my Dad. Nothing shabby about Husqvarna rifles.

Hello muckwa and welcome to the forum.
The .270 is fine for most North American game and certainly for elk. The Husqvarna is a very fine rifle. I have had a few over the years and all were excellent. As it was left to you, it probably has special meaning and somthing you can pass on when the time comes. Hope you will post a photo of your rifle.

I shot my first deer 30 + years ago with a Husquavarna that my grandfather had given me it originally was chambered in 270 Win but he had it re-chambered to 270 Weatherby.

About 5 years after he gave me the rifle he asked for it back and gave me several others then just 4 - 5 years ago now when he was 94 and only months before he died he gave it back to me.

I have it loaded with 140gr TSX @ 3300fps and it gives 3/4" or less 100 yard groups with this load not bad for a 50 + year old rifle.

I have now given this rifle to my son and last year when he turned 25 his grandfather on his mothers side gave him his old almost never used Husquavarna Featherweight in 30-06.

Both rifle have see very little use I'm thinking the 30-06 hasn't seen 2 boxes thru it.

so wait, they make chainsaws, motorcycles AND guns? what else does this company make? they seem to make all the cool ####.

I must be a fan. I have two of their rifles, a lawnmower, a power saw and a hand crank meat grinder. The burger grinder is the same we had starting when we first moved to the B.C. interior. I hesitate to think how many pounds of Moose burger came through it over the years.

I have a Light Weight .30-06 model as well, "fabulous rifle." Definitely a keeper.

Quick question, does it look similar to mine on the bottem of post #9? The recoil pad was one Dad had put on when he first bought the rifle however I do have the original butt plate also.

sewing machines too ..... my mom has a couple of them .

Husqvarna has made everything from military and sporting arms to motorcycles and meat grinders to waffle irons. The company originated as a weapons manufacturer in the 17th century.

Electrolux bought Husqvarna in the 1970s. They went out of the sporting arms business around the same time. Google "Husqvarna" and you'll be amazed at the stuff they still make, but too bad they aren't still making sporting firearms.
