.50 dessert eagle or .45 glock

Apples and Oranges.

Can't compare the two without knowing why you wan't one or the other.

One is an expensive novelty item. One is a .45 caliber version of a well known polymer striker fired handgun.

Neither would do what the other does, so comparing the two is somewhat redundant without further information.

1. if you want something in 45 I'd better look for a all steel frame like 1911 or CZ
2. ref Desert Eagle I'm a little drawn back, diff operating system and for sure not a cheap ammo to blast paper targets

.357 Desert Eagle

i shot the Glock 21 a week ago. i'm a newbie, so my opinion carries little experience, but i didn't really like it all that much other than "big enough for my big hands". easy to use (no controls other than trigger), light enough as far as weight, got 2-3 FTFire from a 50-round box of [factory] ammo (but they went OK the next time i put them in the mag). kinda left me with a "meh, not bad, but not wonderful" impression - which changed quite a bit when i used a G34 (liked it much more)

I own both, and like the gent above me said it's like comparing apples and oranges. G21 is a simple solid economical workhorse and the DE is massive pricey hand cannon. I love them both-but I can't imagine using them both for the same purpose. G21 for plinking 25 y and under. DE .50 for flipping milk jugs at 50 y.

What is your intended use or interest, as they are two totally different firearms. Do you already have a heavy-caliber pistol or a 1911?

They both feel like your hanging onto a 2x4, so unless you have really abnormally large hands forget about a proper firing grip. The Glock is OK, a no big deal 45 - the DE is like a rollercoaster ride at the Carnival, not only does it recoil, which isn't as bad as you might think, but it torques in your hands. If you're shooting any DE you pretty much need to reload, but especially the 50, ammo costs are immense, even reloading, I'm not sure you'd get the per round cost down to the level of factory 45. If I was looking at a DE I'd get a 44 Mag - light recoil and more than enough power.

well i shot a glock 21 yesterday and liked it and im not rich so maybe the glock is the way to go
now should i go 9mm or .45 any imput?

the 21 is physically bigger than the 9mm versions (17/19/34). personally, i've got big paws, but i liked the feel of a G34 (9mm) more than the G21, even though the G34 is a bit smaller. shot them both (1 week apart), and would easily go for a G34 over a G21. just felt better overall.
