Has anyone else tried to put their ADM mount on their Tavor? Mine binds up in the slots and will not sit flat. It seems like the Tavor is more like a Weaver rail but the ADM website does say it fits in and out of spec rails.

Wondering if the other mounts have the same problem is what I'm trying to get at.

This is called trouble shooting. If only the ADM mount doesn't work, then we know what the problem is.

My ACOG was fine, that's why I'm blaming the ADM mount, it does work fine on my AR though. I was just wondering if any one else had the same problem. I'll take a pic tonight.

Tavor and ACOG

After sitting in the safe for 2+ years finally broke out the Tavor and zeroed in an ACOG.

Used the aftermarket rail from Dlask and a LaRue mount for an ACOG TA31TRD but the optic was too low and far back enough. Found that I had to cant my head real bad and was further ahead (compared with an AR).

Any piggy back rails that can be used to bring the ACOG above the rear BUIS and a little further back? Has anyone tried to machine such a thing?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers

Pretty much any riser on the Dlask rail will lift the ACOG too high. The 999 rail is as perfect as you can get with an ACOG and the factory or LaRue mount, although I haven't seen the new factory rail with an ACOG yet so it may be fine also.

I also found the ACOG sat quite low on the Tavor - it also required a lot less eye relief than my little torso and arms were physically able to provide when I was shooting from an Isosceles position... I ended up going with EoTech's on my Tavors' - it's a head up gun up kinda thing...

But with respect to your situation, you can try a small riser - similar to this one from NC Star - (but you'd probably like something not made by them... ;))

Tavor and EoTech

I had thought about running an EoTech but wanted something magnified to take advantage of the accuracy reported for this unit. I didn't have enough room for the optic and the 3x FTS mount. What kind of rail do you have for your Tavor?

Thanks for the heads up on the riser, I'll take a look at it.

Cheers

I run a Dlask rail - lowest I could find... and EoTech triple nickel atop an A.R.M.S. mount. Hopefully Rauch or CanadaAmmo releases their little rail that mounts behind the BUIS - perfect spot for a magnifier.

I just shot some Diemaco's with EoTech 552's and the 3x magnifier, and they worked quite well...

Is it not fitting properly in between the slots (as in, the recoil lugs not fitting front to back), or is it the side to side that's not working?

Weaver rails have different spacing specs for the recoil cross slots, both thickness of the recoil Lugs" and distance between them. The American Defense mounts (as well as LaRue) are designed for Picatinny Rail specs, front to back. Although both are adjustable for out of spec rails (as in side to side spec, or worn out rails) they still require M1913 Picatinny spec. cross slots.

My friend got an ADM mount for his C8 (yes he got a C8, lucky bastage!) when he deployed the sandbox, and the recoil cross slots in the ADM mount wouldn't fit into the Weaver spec. rails on the C8. He ended up getting a rail riser and shaving part of the recoil cross slot off the riser, which allowed it to fit onto the Weaver spec rails, then put the ADM mount on top.

If the tavor has a Weaver spec rail, then there are 3 options:

1: Get a proper 1913 Picatinny rail.
2: shave a small portion off the Tavor's rail so the ADM mount will fit
3: Shave a small portion of the ADM recoil cross lugs so it will fit into the Tavor's rail cross slots.

Tavor

F22, I did have that problem when mounting the Dlask rail onto the factory rail. I had to file down the channel through which the fastener passes through. That was a nightmare as I don't like to have to file anything down!

My problem is with the length of the aftermarket Dlask rail and the height of that rail. I prefer to have the Acog mounted a little further back and a little higher.

I wish I had seen your post last week as I had some anxious moments at the range club house trying to get my Dlask rail onto the factory rail!

Cheers

Well my TAR21 has the 999 rail and it has a perfect fit for the ADM & perfect eye relief & height with the Leupold M4.

If you want a scope use the 999 rail, if you want a red dot use the DLask rail... I have no idea what the new rail from CanAm is best for....

Heres a pic - the pic is an IOR now its a Leupy M4 and the M4 rear bell is smaller with better clearance.

here we go again Lector . Trying to help and everybody is ignoring you, - sounds familiar ?
Nobody wants to talk to you b/c your such an ass . they would not give you a single picture . not even a word about somebody lending you his second generation tavor the one that comes without the back sight. What to do now ? Can you design a rail using the very few pictures scattered in other tavor threads ?
if it has to fit different types of optics , i don't even mention it, and i am not even sure it's possible .
Everybody wants it to co-witness, but what it has to co-witness if there is no rear sight ?????? can you tell me?

To make it even more exciting , can you do it in less than a week ? ( You are the only person i know who performs better when hes under pressure . but how much presure is to much for you ? )

please watch lector going bats**t on the tavor mounts and rails ;)

I thought that was because of my skin color.
Anyway, as some of you know, I embraced the Buddhist religion now
and I am not supposed to listen to your earthly crap anymore.
I have to pray, meditate and learn how to chant.

No, it doesn't. It has a rear sight, but it is not on the gas tube block like the first batch.
It stays in a pocket inside the (picatinny) rail.

Is that a challenge?

... because if it is, there are other ways to get something done (ask nicely for example).
But you don't need it, because you don't have a Tavor any longer, right?
So, again, did you say that as a challenge?

Anyway, I did it (not for you, nor for the challenge, but for the Tavor people who
want to have better optic mounting capabilities).
Here it is:
tav_0025.jpg

It is not finished yet.
I did some partial testing and I have to do more this following week.
After de-bugging, I will post the finished rail.

After I did it, I had 3 Tavors in my hands. Two of them were from the first batch.
One of them was from the second batch (Mepro on picatinny with integral flip-up rear BUIS).
Million thanks to members ThomasThomas, Justin1877 and CobraGT,
for their kind help and valuable input in finalizing this project.
Also, thanks to cgn member furet for his pics posted in other thread.

To make it even more exciting , can you do it in less than a week ?
... a week starting from when?

:D
