.300 wsm and/or .300 rum

;)
This Rifle Recoil Table lie ?

Yes wizzass, the table lies.
Let me give you an example using my old 416 Remington and some real world experience.

82 grains of RL-15 over 400 grains>> 2430fps

8.0 pounds ready to shoot.

Recoil velocity 24.2ft/sec, energy 73.0ftlbs

8.5 pounds ready to shoot.
Recoil velocity 22.8ft/sec, energy 68.7ftlbs

On paper looks pretty much the same doesn't it?

AT 8.0 pounds my buddy that shoots 375Wby and 338RUM shot it offhand once (one time only) and then couldn't dry fire any of his rifles without flinching. He wisely packed up his crap and went home for the day.
At 8.5 pounds he shot it 20 times!

The reality is the 8 pound rifle was way (WAY!) beyond what the average guy can handle (lets not even talk about a noob such as yourself) yet at 8.5 pounds its just another big gun.

The identical result does not apply to the 300WSM, but the point here is you are in way over your head and should STFU and listen to those of us that have been there and done that thing you are asking about. ;)

Any more questions or do you want to continue to educate us?

X-Fan...
yes .416 rem / 338 rum / 375 wby.. are big game caliber... twice bigger at .300 wsm

.300 wsm are half size... like a "AA cell" very little bite bigger...
and yes I know the Rifle Weight make change the recoil...

zZzzz...

.300 Win mag over all other .300's. Forget these new fangled "better" cartridges. They're only better for the ammo company, not the hunter.

OUff.. yes I know the short version are little bite more performant and is "short action", but yes, not good market prize !.. (ex: 26$ for the .300 mag and 36$ for wsm / box of 20 rd.)

Now thats funny:D, I'll give you D+ for effort.

just D+ ?

I give you D- for you'r bad humain being...

I juste not a bilingual but I was able to communicate where with humain talkin other language at me...
And you GOOSE25, you can communicate with how much civilisation ? (2 ?, 3?, 8?, 24?, 68? )

I forgive you because you'r stupid.

Well I own both the ultra and wsm in .300 caliber. I push both rounds hard in my rifles. You can have the best of both worlds and by that I mean you can enjoy the performance of a magnum and not develop a flinch. I started with a .270 and love it but I have come to enjoy the performance of a magnum. I do shoot alot and have guns that fit me. Guns that don't fit and are to light will make you miserable as a case of the sh... Do yourself a favor and take Wrong Way up on his offer. SHoot til you puke.

My short mag is a 7lb light weight and it kicks like a pig. I have a muzzle break on it for range sessions. Makes it tolerable. My ultra mag is a long barrreled heavy thing with a break as well for range sessions. I have a muzzle cap for both which I use during hunting sessions. You won't notice the recoil as much during a field situation. I am not a small man {6'4" 235lbs} and believe me even with guns that fit and I shoot alot recoil can ruin the whole experience. CHOOSE CAREFULLY!

Listen to the experienced posted here they know what the hell they are talking about.
If still unsure buy a .30-30 with a tasco.

the cost of the ammo between the 2 cartridges is something to think about also .if you dont reload.if it were me i would just buy a 3006 and be done with it .with the proper bullet it will take down any animal on this continent .

.308, .30-06 and .270 are all your friend....even a light .30-06 has some bite.

JY Jones took the North American 28 with a .30-06, I know a guy who uses one in central asia for argali, ibex and urial without fuss. I have used a .30-06 from duiker to Eland in Africa. Those three common cartridges mentioned above give all you need for most situations out to 300m on big game and are cheaper to shoot (re: practice). Most guys are not giving you this advice to be malicious, its good advice, always has been...

Magnums are great if you can really use them, shoot them and the rifles fit you. A lightweight .300 wsm will recoil hard, regardless of the recoil tables.

I know a guy who has a giraffe overlooking his kitchen table. It was brought down with a 30-06.

It's still a boring cartridge though.:nest::p

I know of 2 giraffes taken without hassle with a .30-06. One was brained and the other with a 180gr Failsafe into the heart. Wouldn't be my first choice but it worked (of course giraffe are not too hard to get close to).

There is a reason why the .30-06 is the worlds no.1 allrounded for 99% of hunting situations! Like a Toyota Lancruiser, boring but just works!
