training schools

Ipsc

Take a IPSC black badge course, this will help with what you want to accomplish. If you are in the Aylmer area you can take it at East Elgin Sportsmen's Association.

Most of the IDPA clubs as well as the IPSC clubs hold regular Skills and Drills shoots, look at participating in those before you spend huge money of shooting schools.

Just buy and watch Matt Burkett's Winning IDPA Techniques vol 5.
It will help you practice properly.

I do not have the IDPA DVD, but I have the How to practice and How to shoot faster DVD's,....they are the least expensive way to get training. I still watch them once in a while. I think I purchased them back in 2005. A great DVD set to get is the L10/Open USPSA Nationals DVD by Saul Kirsch. One disc is the match, the other is the tactics for each division, and the different choices/ plans for shooting the stages.

Also,...video of your shooting at matches and your draw and reloads is good to study. You can critique yourself and find ways to improve. It also helps if you shoot with better shooters. I like shooting with guys who have more experience than me,...they can break down stages and give good advice.

Critiquing yourself isn't necessarily the best idea. If you're going to video yourself, it's better to get someone else who can diagnose and recognize small(and not so small) errors in your technique that you may not notice or recognize.

I notice how fat I am in mine,...but I also notice little improvement.:p
