My New SAA COLT in 455 ELEY (pics) Best gun i ever seen!

Hey Dez i was hopeing you would post in this thread.
I have been looking along time, yours was the only other one i know of in Canada.
I dont even think Grant has one. there so rare only 1035 of the 7.5 ones.
I didnt sell any guns cause of this gun yet.
will be listing a few guns now tho.
I only found this gun yesterday and got a Buy it now deal worked out.
I wont jinx it by saying what i paid for it .:)

Well I love all things 455 and a colt is all the better good find and you can't go wrong buying these things as the years go by up up up goes the value.

Congrats on the new SAA! That thing is just... awesome! Better looking than the ones in John Wayne movies!

Now that means more nice antique guns will be on the EE market soon and, eventually, in CGN circulation. That Jeep would really look better with new tires, haha

Great Thanks for that Info on the number made,,, 497 thats not alot and mine is the BP frame to.

I will go take a look at the cases at that website to. :)
 
For those of us who don't know these guns as well (and without disclosing what you paid), could you or someone give me an idea of the value range for one of these in 455 if they ever had the luck to find one? Also, what is "pall mall"? I had no idea the Colt SAA was even made in that caliber. I've always thought these are magnificent looking pieces.

Pall Mall refers to the London address, as far as price, google is your friend but my guess is is just under 4K ;)

Mine are in .41 Colt, a much more common Canadian-Antique caliber, but I have paid between $2000-$3100 USD, with original conditions ranging from not-so-great to very good.
 
Who did the resto work?
Got solid provenance besides a letter? A history on the gun prior to the resto? Markings restamped?

It's sure a pretty piece. Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

Colt puts this 5 1/2 made in 1882. Shipped to London Agency, London England.
50 Guns in shipment. Original with proof marks and cartouche on Grips. Come with original London Colt box with Oil well and screw driver.
I also have 7-8 Bills cases for my Colts and other guns

My 455 is original and is in about the same finish as yours.

This is probably my highest condition SAA 1st generation I have

Where I am, I can not move refinished Colts so I stick to the unrestored 1's.
I got this 44-40 from Doc Rowlands with original box and I think it came out of Toronto area

Very Nice real beautys there.
Them cases are fantastic to... I have to settle for a repo case but at least i know what they look like now thanks for posting them pics Meanea.

I only have a Factory Colt letter to go with mine i will find out more when i have it in my Mits and a freind who has the British CSL Sales records shows two other SAA Colts sold one serial number above and below my colts number.
I will do the tracking work once i have the gun.
no clue who did the restore work but i will find out.
the colt has the orignal grips and they did a great job restoreing it.
I cant say if it was restamped but looking at the grips and how good a shape there in its hard to say maby the numbers are pretty sharp if yes they sure knew what they were doing the gun has all the london proofs in the right places i dont think any of them are restamped.
I love the recase colours on my gun tho.
I dont mind its Restored as its a keeper for myself to shoot.

SUPER nice toy, dingus!

I saw one once that was in almost that good condition. Only thing is, it was also just about a century newer than yours.

Fine guns such as these are the proof that human beings who care about what they do, can beat plastic and CNC machines, every time.
