Well we finally are ready to start taking registrations!!!

David Peckham is coming from England to set the targets, Ron has built his "mountain", Targets are ordered, shooting stands are built. The mechanics are in place, now it is time to contact us to save your spot.

The event will be held September 2-5 in just east of Brooks Alberta. We will be shooting 5 stand, English Sporting and FITASC.

Avis Rent a car, and WestJet are providing discounts for any that are travelling. The Heritage Inn and the Heritage Inn and suites will be the host hotels. Rough camping is provided on site and we are long walking distance from a provincial park.

Send me a pm if you want details of the shoot, registration or the newly formed Canadian National Sporting Clays Association.

Please explain "English Sporting " as to what is different to Sporting commonly shot in Canada / US.

It's very much like North American Sporting Clays, with the notable exception of the following:

1 - In lieu of "pull" one must call "PULL, guvnah!" or "Bung us a target, luv!"

2 - For each missed target, one must replace "sh*t!" with one of the following:
---"Sod off!"
---"Bollocks!"
---"Cheese it!"
---"Bloody 'ell!"

3 - One must shoot while holding a cup of tea.

4 - The course is shot in fog. If natural fog is not available, a stage effects fog machine must be purchased to duplicate such conditions.

5 - For each hit target, one must exclaim "Bob's your uncle!" (or, for female shooters, "Tilly's your aunt!")

6 - Other shooters will refrain from uttering "congratulations," replacing it with one of the following:
---"Jolly good show, Old Bean!"
---"I say, that was a right cracking bit of wallop!"
---"Nary a ####-up there, Old Son!"
---"Right jammy, that round! The mutt's nuts, you are!"

I think that about covers it? :D

As much as I love the response posted above, English sporting generally refers to all pairs shooting with most being two birds in the air simultaneously either of the same machine or 2 separate machines. Less singles basically.

Thanks for your interest in the competition. We only have spots for 96 FITASC Shooters. I think we are about half way there now. There will be lots of opportunity to shoot lots of neat targets.
The plan is to have the whole course available with no requirement to move machines. We have secured over a hundred machines, and have requested another 25 for spares and such. Anyone who has ever shot at the Brooks Clays and Feathers club knows that Ron is fanatical about maintenance and making sure everything WORKS. The pheasants are being selected for our Saturday night pheasant feast. we would welcome any suggestions for wines. If you feel like supplying let us know.
Please send me email addresses if you want to be on our mailing list.

Thanks for the photos Henry. I am unable to attend the event and was wondering how my friends and fellow competitors were making out this weekend. This sure made my morning. Thanks again.

I wanted to go but, I have had too many major trips this year:South America during the Xmas holidays, African Cup in SA, St Thomas, Ruger Cup, one month in Europe for the Belgian and World Championship, Pilla Lobster and in two weeks the Orvis Cup at Sandanona, besides many side trips to other events.

Don't miss out on the World FITASC in Orville France next July! I have all the info!

Regards,
Henry;)

Much international info here: http://fitaschunting.proboards.com/

The shoot is a wrap. Canadian Champion is Frank Polichichio (please forgive spelling).
Andy Duffy was high international shooter.
More news and scores to be posted later. First peak at scores will be posted at the Canadian National Sporting Clays Association webpage.

Franki is a real nice guy and I am personaly glad that he did win. It is Policcichio, I think! Again, what a great win for him!!! I wonder what intissed Andy Duffy to enter. Oh yes, the FIRST TRUE, Canadian National in how many years! Congrats Andy! One more on the shelf and after winning the FITASC at the Lobster!

Congrats to all who entered the shoot. It is nice to see nearly ALL of Canada at a shoot! Special mention to Doug Harvey who is the man behind the scene, who was/is the guy that makes things happen!

Now, if we could only get people to shoot the creme-de-la-creme of clay shooting, FITASC Sporting, in Canada, a Grand Prix?

Regards,
Henry;)

Henry,
I think that those who claim that FITASC is the creme-de-la-creme of clay shooting and wish to have a Grand Prix event in Canada must first participate and support FITASC shoots in Canada. Your wish is just a wish. I know that you were off to bigger and better but you missed an international FITASC shoot held in Canada.

You forget WHO got Canada affiliated to FITASC in the first place: moi! Who persuaded La Roue du Roy to have the first of several first, FITASC shoots in Canada: moi! Who got experienced American FITASC refs and target setters to show our guys how it is done: moi! This was all done in the very early 90s, except for the affiliation which is more recent.

I have done my work. I do travel a lot to shoot and buisness, and just could not make this trip. Besides, I have shot more FITASC targets than anybody in Canada for the past 10 years! How many have shot on an International level? I for one, have shot for exactly 18 years.

Regards,
Henry;)

International level? Shooting on an international level does nothing for the sport in Canada or on a local level. In general most shooters will want little to do with a sport where you have to travel long and far to participate. Under those conditions FITASC will remain an elite sport or a cream sport as you describe it. Right now most think of FITASC as a sport for the rich and famous. Some shooters and even sporting shooters think of FITASC as sporting clays with all of the fun sucked out of it. Thanks to Doug Harvey and his crew, this image may be changing.

Not for nothing Henry, but lots of us have shot not only in other countries, but also in other provinces. It is the stated goal of the Canadian National Sporting Clays Association to promote Sporting Clays in Canada. It is also our goal to promote Canadian Shooters abroad. Our plans include increasing communication between shooters and clubs and building relationships at the same time. We welcome all constructive criticism. I personally ask that it be constructive.
We have a committed board of directors and a varied group of delegates. We make no pretensions that everyone will agree all the time. We are trying to promote the sport so that it is available to the widest range of shooters by having lots of clubs throwing quality targets. Part of the learning curve includes bringing in shooters and target setters from outside the local communities to share what they know.
I look forward to meeting shooters from around the world, and absorbing all they have to offer. If you have something to contribute please let me know.
