Love the look of it with the proper length barrel - However, I do want to take the gun out with me to help rid the area of pesky yotes... so that'll lead me on the path of unrestrictedness (new word)...

man those are really starting to call for me...

storm, what was your decision for the barrel? I would vote for vented, and make sure it is possible to fit one of these on it:

I find it balance the longer barrel (in looks at least).

The one you have looks like the "standard" on Questar site... what (if any) optics are on those?
Is it just a rail with back-up irons?
Are the "USG" version avalaible here?

Sorry for the questions, but please keep us posted on your progress, a non-restricted PS90 sound too good to be true...

Your bang on - the one I purchased is the standard model that Questar sells (fantastic service by the way...). It didn't come with an optic, and I'm still in the air about what to throw on the gun... the rail however has a built in back up sight, with a peep at the rear, and a post at the front... the rail is actually sight adjustable, and I'll be setting it up before mounting an optic. It also has a pair of rudimentary sights on either side of the rail on the sight housing - same as the original P90. I don't think that Questar has the USG versions in stock, but it may be worth a call to Mark or Scott to find out for sure.

There's only one thing that would make a non-restricted PS90 more fun...and it would require removal of C68...:D

I am on the fence about the same gun from Questar. What is the rebarrel going to cost you roughly?? It is either this gun or an M14 shorty buildup for me......

I don't have firm numbers yet, but I'm thinking in the 4-500 ballpark... I'll try to Give Ian a call this week, but don't want to bug him (I can imagine he's quite busy).

I've decided on the Vented Shroud for several reasons...

1 - less chance of moisture buildup over the sealed can.
2 - moderately lighter.
3 - doesn't look as evil, and will probably attract a little less attention.

Here's a couple more pics that helped me decide...

Range report with the factory barrel will be up by the end of the week (waiting on some plastic tipped hornets to arrive :D)

I plan on comparing 3 different rounds with the factory barrel (chrono - group etc), and then doing the same once the new 18.6" barrel is installed...

I have 2 custom loads 31 grain, and 28 grain. As well as the 40 grain Hornady V-Max. I'm anxious to see what the numbers are over the chronograph...

More to come....

I'm south of the border and was wondering what 5.7 ammo you have. here in the states the ss195 and ss197 can be had. the ss192 is legal if you can find it, none has been available for about 4 years.

AP 5.7x28 is prohibited by name in Canada, a very big no-no. So basically it's the same stuff as in the US. The principal difference being that ammo has to be approved by Natural Resources Canada and appear on their ammo list to be legally importable, so there is a delay while an importer applies the first time before it can be legally imported.

Oh, plus those pleasant people at the State Dept. can change their minds on a whim whether they will allow it to be exported.

Move to Canada, you'll love it.

nice storm, I'm keeping an eye on that thread for sure... I've been hooked by your N-Res PS90 talk, altough I prefer the SBR look, I think I won't be able to resist.
have you decided what optics you'll go with?

I found out that there is also a PS90-RD (red dot) model, the standard could be converted to it pretty easily if one can find the mount up here... C-more STS 3.5moa and mount:

I put an eotech on it for kicks and giggles, and to just get the initial range testing done with the factory barrel. In the end, I may throw on a Trij reflex (have one in inventory), or maybe the new Mepro 21 bullseye reticle (have one in inventory)... Or if I can source one out - one of the original Ring sights (don't have one in inventory - yet)

Looks really good. I will be looing for a PS90 when I get back from tour. I have been saving up 5.7x28 ammo for a long time now so I have a good stash lol

Play safe while your in the sandbox Medic...Be courteous, be polite, and have a plan to ki11 everyone you meet...;). When you come back from your deployment you're more than welcome to use any of your ammo through my PS90...I'll just hold my hands under the ejection port to liberate the once fired brass...:D

I love it when a plan comes together...

Just ordered the Shilen match grade barrel for the PS90. We're going to use the 1:9 twist, which will stabilize to bullet weights I'd never think of using in this little carbine. Best news is that it looks like I'll be able to conceal all that extra length (18.6") beneath the factory Flash Hider...Sweeet!

I've chatted with the gunsmith for some time online, and I'm looking forward to meeting him face to face, and ultimately showing off his handy work on this forum...And then taking his handy work out to the field to show the local dog eating coyotes a couple of the more interesting features...the side effects may include severe chest pains and or extreme migraine like pain behind the ear (these side effects are temporary, and last only a few seconds):D

Do you have any problems finding bullets for your reloads? I would think they are not common to say the least...
Good news on the flash hider, I was wondering if that would work since the flash hider is a sleeve that cover everything that sticks out of the frame.

that thread is killing me... and I just got the tax bill for the new condo. that 2nd job better start calling me soon...

This is starting to look like a really attractive option, the biggest downside being the 5.7 ammo.

On a slightly related note, is anyone aware of the legal status of FN's Five-SeveN handgun in Canada, and if it's not prohibited, do any of our distributer friends carry them?

If I could have the handgun and the rifle on the same ammo, it wouldn't seem like as much of a downside.

Cheers.

EDIT: I guess I should do a little looking around before asking such things, apparently Questar has them.....Mmmm...tempting.
