Sig, STI, or CZ for first pistol?

Mark believe me, there is no 9mm cheap ammo left in Calgary. If there was I would have bought it all. I buy 1000-2000 at a time when I can find it. WSS been sold out of anything under $20 a box for two months...

Can you recommend a decent, cheap, 9mm ammo for the CZ that does not cause FTE? I assume you can use lead bullets in them too?

Thanks,

Mark

This topic comes up all the time and I am usually not one to complain about such things but I think there are 2-3 up right now.

Get the CZ for IPSC if you are doing that or think you will
Get the Beretta if it fits your hand, I have an M9 and I love it! <---
Sig is also great, just pricey

These are metal framed guns. IMO Poly guns just don't feel the same and I consider them 2nd tier, but thats just me.

Who?

Probably not...but if many of the world's top tactical shooters and trainers started saying, "the Norinco AR is the best option out there" then I'd probably have the sense to start listening. The M&P is not a pistol for collectors, but it is a pistol for shooters. It is probably a better option than anything else on the list at the start of this thread. Unless your goal is to own a shiny pistol that maybe sees a thousand rounds a year, in which case, no, it's not as good.

Of the world's top tactical shooters and trainers, who is saying the M&P pistol is the best option out there?

Larry Vickers springs to mind...I believe he considers the M&P a "product improved Glock". IIRC that is a direct quote.

Todd Louis Green is a big believer in the M&P as well.

Those are the only two names that stick in my head at the moment...but I am sure if you looked you would find more. Those just happen to be the names that spring to mind.

Todd G is a world's top trainer?

Larry Vickers is, for sure.

I'd very much appreciate any links to support the LAV claim.

Gotta be carefull with "sponsered" pros. These guys would probably do as good as with any other gun (with the proper tuning of course).

No doubt...but when those guys have a short list of recommended pistols, those pistols are generally worth at.

Additionally I do not believe either of those guys shoot for S&W, nor do I believe Larry Vickers would be inclined to sell people on any pistol he did not believe in. Furthermore, the guy builds 1911s...if he was shilling for anyone, you'd think it would be for himself. Well, I guess I am not sure if he still builds 1911s or not. He used to but the backlog got pretty long...I think he is a busy guy.

I don't know enough to comment on whether Todd Green would lie to people about the qualities of the M&P, but I don't think it is very likely. These guys are in a very reputation-intensive business and if they were flogging junk guns for cash it would be evident very quickly.

I have also noticed the magpul guys shooting M&Ps recently...their handgun dvd looks like it features them using M&Ps pretty much exclusively.

I've done a lot of looking. All that I can see from Larry Vickers on the M&P is that, in the past, he'd said the M&P was unproven and, lately, he's said that S&W has "done it's homework" and that the M&P was as viable a choice as a Glock. He sure didn't say that the M&P was better than a Glock or anything even close to that.

Now I know that Todd G is Todd Green, and that Todd Green is an IDPA champion. I'm still trying to figure out the business relationship between Todd Green and Smith & Wesson.
