Hello all,

I mounted an aimpoint micro to my NEA handguard last week. It sighted in easily and I achieved co-witness with the front sight as well. I was using the factory folding stock at this time.

Fast forward to today when I tried to sight my aimpoint in using my new stock assembly. I mounted an NEA stock adapter and attached a magpul mil spec receiver extension and CRT stock. I love this set up. Except that I cannot sight in my aimpoint properly anymore. Forget about co-witness. The red dot is up so hight in the sight I can no longer see it. I noticed right away that the new stock set up is mounted up alot higher and is straight back from the receiver and not downward on an angle like my old folder.

I know this difference in hight and angle are causing my problem. My question is how do I fix it, without changing my stock assembly? Do you think using a raised mount will fix this issue?

Thanks

Sean

With an in-line stock and a micro, you need the riser block and you need to abandon the iron sights and install some BUIS. Fabsports sells an inexpensive no-frills BUIS set made of Aluminum (UTG) if you're on a budget.

Nature of the beast ;)

I had the same issue with this stock adapter. Pissed off that they don't mention that the adapter is not compatible with the iron sights or upper handguard mounting rail.

There's a number of review threads on this adaptor, in this forum, that describe that exact issue.

It's designed to work with AR BUIS on the rear and forward rails and with a full-size optic (or a small one on a riser).

This is how it works. It's on old pic but now you can put the front back-up sight on the new barrel clamp rail.

Thank you all for your replies,

Charles, I love all the kit you make for my VZ and judging by my credit card bill my wife is probably going to stage and intervention. Keep up the good work and keep the toys coming.

What hight of riser should I buy to correct my sighting issue?

Thanks

Sean

IMHO, it takes many "improvements" just to have the pleasure of sighting through an aftermarket optic on an in-line stocked VZ... oh well, I guess it makes the accessory dealers happy and that's part of the fun.
I think I'm going to ask if that NEA handguard rail is back again for sale. Last time I wrote, it was B.O.d
PP. :)

PP: there are MANY stocking dealers for NEA stuff - I doubt they are all BO's. Have you tried Wolverine or GP Tactical?

As for stock adaptors, they all work. I prefer the NEA as it includes a single-point sling attachment (though I wish it were a QD stud type?) and a BUIS mount/cantelever scope mounting point.

The Rauche mount is adjustable, but personally if I wanted a non-inline AR stock adaptor I would get the DLASK one. In my opinion, it's built more solidly. with that stock you could get co-witness using the NEA handguard rail, iron sights and an Aimpoint micro. But again, you would lose the anti-muzzle-climb features of having an in-line stock.

The in-line stocks are also PERFECT for POSP scopes if you go that route.

Does anyone know which of our supporting dealers have a riser mount for my micro?

It depends on what kind of riser you want. A specific QD mount for the Aimpoint or just a picatinny riser block.

Wolverine should have something that will work for you.
