I left the guns at home today.

Uncle has a gazillions gophers on his 5 acre plot but there are some neighbors around so he doesn't use the 22 anymore (used to before development). The other day he grabbed his bow and began shooting practice points at gophers. One bounced and flew to the corner of the property where a neighbor was getting wood from his woodpile. The arrow hit a tree about 5 yards up and 5 yards to the right of the woodgetter.

When he went to retrieve his arrow it was apparently a little uncomfortable - actually he said the neighbor was kinda mad and he apologized as much as he could. But the neighbor still wasn't happy... go figure?

Hey Pharaoh, just curious, why do use a lefty bow? You don't have to post the pics again, I am clear on the prosthetic, but I do not understand why you need to use a left bow. I figured that since it is your brace arm you would be able to shoot a right handed bow easily (relatively speaking).

The problem with a right handed grip is that the way it sits in the crotch of the hand, the bow torques to the right, causing the string to slap my arm gaurd. Make sense?

With a left handed grip the bow is forced to torque to the left, putting pressure on the thumb and thus keeping the string in line. The other part of it as how the arm is set up and the elbow bends, I have to tilt the bow a bit left while drawing and shooting off the shelf it is impossible to use a right handed bow. Otherwise the arrow will just slip off. I've sent a few emails to Black Widow as I'm in the thinking stage of a new model and was considering a left handed grip on a right handed bow. It's a $75 option and I plan on keeping the weight lower, but I think I'll just stick to what I know works.

You type 359 characters per minute
You have 66 correct words and
you have 1 wrong words - I hit space after missing the "m" in "me" and couldn't correct it...

I type

Not bad for kicking back on the couch! :)

Hmmm. So can you cant the bow to the right at all? When I shoot my recurve or longbow - or will with the new one I just bought - I cant the bow at least 30 degrees off centre, this keeps the riser out of my view and keeps me from consciously using the bow/arrow to "aim" at the target. Of course a compound you need to hold straight up and down due to the sights - wait a second, do you have sights on your recurve?

My recurve is 65# @ 28", so I am not sure if that is too heavy for you to draw, but I have a lower poundage longbow (50#), and was thinking that if you want to spend some time altering the grip with tape and such to see if we can change the way the bow torques, it should be doable. Let me know.

Yeah....he can shoot a bow, type 41 words per minute, and masturbate with only one arm...but the b@stard always makes me tie his dang shoelaces.....

Whats up with that??

Now that's odd. I thought I was f**ked up.

I see where folks might get confused, I'm used to that. This should clear things up. :D

Sooo, I guess the problem is more with your LEFT ( or lack thereof) hand , than the right??!!

I have the same quiver! I dont mind it, I stuff an old t-shirt in with the arrows to stop them from rattling around. What kind of bow is that? Hatfield takedown? Good luck with the gophers!!
