.416 guys step up...

Yes even with the brake and tripple Magna Porting that thing is for nutbars only. Factory 460s kick way less. Those No.1 stocks just aren't recoil friendly. Icehunter thinks it's a 398 so it's found a good home. Hey D I can only assume the Rigby will be your Crow gun?

Actually there MTM.. i found some rather large mice out here and need the 416 for backup...I hope the rigby deal comes through as i need another one...as for the .460...I offered it to lots of guys, probably bout 15 now and no one will shoot it off the bench...Goody...more ammo for me...:D

It throws me around quite a bit but I love it...and she aint for sale...:dancingbanana:

fixed it to be .338 and not .398..

Tough beef. A traditional snack while cutting up the carcass is small chunks of meat and chunks of thyroid gland deep fried in elephant lard, served with sudza and eaten by hand. While being watched by vultures.

Sounds like what my ex g/f tried to cook for me every night!!! While she sat in a tree and watched!!!

Whats with the AK?? shootin fleas off a elephants ass at 100 yards??? no wait they arent that accurate...maybe throw it at the elephant and run like hell???

It really took someone quite a while to ask about the Kalashnikov back-up rifle. So if your guides bagged any poachers, would you have done similar photos? :p

Please tell us the hunt package included a few sticks of 7.62x39 at full throttle.

Its more likely to be a case of a body that would never be found. The zim game scouts carry the AK, and their primary function is to watch you.
The PHs will carry whatever big rifle they can get and can afford. The chances of it being a CZ or Brno are better than 50/50.

Now that my ZKK-602 is back and I've got the scope re-mounted, I'm going to go through my bullet inventory. I know I have some 400gr Hornady IL's loaded. Gotta check how many.

I intend to load some 400gr Nosler Partitions and I might have some Hornady IB's... I kinda forget. If I've got 'em, I'll load some of those tho'.

Anyway, I'll get an assortment and I gotta hit the range some time this week and sight the rifle in. See which is the most accurate, most consistent velocity wise.

I don't actually think it matters which bullet I chose for black bear... :p

Friday A.M. I'm heading into the bush for a week of bear hunting. :dancingbanana:

I'm gonna take along the .405Win for backup... maybe the .35Whelen...

At the time of the .416 intro hornady had a bunch of 340 grainers out and now none made...any body have any idea why?? I would love to get ahold of some and try them in my Rigby..

I that category of lower .40 bolt guns I would love a .404 Jeff - just oozes class :D (mind you so does the Rigby)

The .416 Taylor looks like a really sensible, practical and pragmatic cartridge and as much as it pains me to say, the Johnny-come-lately .416 Ruger makes a lot of sense if someone wants a .416!

Give the 350gr Speer Hot Core a try. I've shot 'em in my rifle and they shoot pretty decent and hold together very well, due to the hot core manufacturing process. Ummm... I sold the ones I had...
For moose, bears and stuff here in N.A. they are a very good bullet.

Most likely I will use the 400gr Nosler Partitions for my bear hunt, but I've got a couple boxes of 400gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claws also.

I did a check and I guess I have no 400gr Hornady Interbonds, but do have Interlocks.

I would love the opportunity to hit a bear in the center of the brisket and see just how far one of those big 400gr bullets will travel! I bet I would find it somewhere right around the ass-hole.

In my Rigby I shoot the Speer 350grn hot cores, 400 grn Nosler partitions, and 400grn Swift A Frames. I push them all along with 99grns of H4831sc, all of the bullets with this powder are very accurate.

I just returned from hunting out North and West of Mackenzie and the A Frames did a good job on a couple of 6'+ boars. Although they did through and through on both bears they both died quickly (double lung of course).

Right now I am getting 1.25 inch groups out of the interbonds and have some interlocks yet to try out.I would like to get this rifle sub moa...ya I know you dont need it on a big calibre with a heavy slug but its just something I want to see happen..

^ What yardage were the bears shot at? Gonna post pics, story!?

X2...hey MTM..hows about some pics of your bear in here also?? Since this thread went from .416 to .40 and above here is a pic for ya all...
