Finally got a chance to try out two new rifles built for me this winter by Dennis Sorensen. To say that I am very pleased would be an understatement. Dennis does very good work and in a timely manner. I've had several jobs done by him and have never been disappointed.
First off is a 700 in 270Win, trued action, bead blasted and reblued, 23" stainless Gaillard bbl, std sporter contour bedded in an Edge. I wasn't planning on having it fluted, but it was a bit front heavy, so I sent it to Corlanes for the job. It helped.
Apparently it likes Nosler BTs. Not bad for the first groups ever!
Second up is another 700 in 22/250. Also trued, bead blasted and reblued. Dennis hooked up a Remington stainless, sporter bbl, rechambered from .223 and bedded in a Classic stock. I wanted the faster twist on the .223 for shooting heavier bullets for deer hunting.
This was also the first group fired from this rifle while sighting in the scope at 50yds. Not too shabby, even at 50yds.
I later fired a couple 1" groups at 100yds using Speer 70gr SPs. In all, very good day at the range.
