30-06 enough for moose?

Ok, it's supposed to be premium, but 110 gr. in .308 just aren't designed to hold up. 100 grain 25 cal or 243 different story. They used to have trouble at longer ranges with the heavy .243 bullets; wouldn't open up. I would lean to 180s for 30-06 and 200s for the magnums. At least for moose sized stuff. An aquaintance was on a hunt where the moose was killed with a 135 grain out of a 30-06 and it blew up on the shoulder. Too fast, too light in construction. Pretty much a varmint bullet. Besides which, even if they do make monolithic solids, A-Frames, or partition type bullets that light why wouldn't you want the sectional density of the longer bullet? You'll never turn your medium case into a magnum like that; ultimately when the range gets far the long bullet will keep much more of it's original ft./lbs. (and momentum). Strictly for academics, the 200 grain boat tail spire point was published at over 1500 foot pounds of energy @ 500 yards. Off hand I think the 110 would be like what, 600? I admit that I've went light and killed a blacktail with a hornet once. It did the job, but I felt pretty dumb using a classic hornet load for that. (45 grains) Definitely use the premiums for tough stuff though. Bullet construction makes all the difference. Or just get the .50 BMG! :D
