It's almost like the Stoner 63 was designed by a guy named Stoner. Wait, didn't a guy named Stoner design the AR15, AR16, AR18?That rifle bears a little resemblance to the M96 that Robinson put out. Obviously some design cues from the Stoner and the AR made it in their. I do like it.

That being said, they have no design commonality.
Well, Stoner was on the design team for the AR10 & AR15, but he showed up late on the AR10 project, and IIRC he was already gone for the AR16 and AR18 projects.
I think that the "common thread guy" you're thinking of was James Sullivan...
