Hornady Interlock 250gr

The Hornady 250RNs are accurate often and the velocity champ too IME. I've killed bears with that bullet and the spire point flavour too at around 2400 - both are like Thor's hammer. But Id give the edge in terminal thump to the RN - more blood on the surrounding trees/foliage (got some pics to prove that but yuk). Exits are normal IME with "thru the chest broadside" shots I take. A good bullet choice for the 35Whelen. The interlocks are premiums IMO in the 35 Whelen without the higher cost - though getting spendier as time marches on.

i was just reading that there has been an issue of the bullet opening up to much an not exiting , so i just thought id ask around to see what others have experienced with this.
I think being in a 35 it should hit like the hammer of thor, an backed up with some RE15 should be in the ball park of 2300-2400 fps?

With a recently purchased Husqvarna in a slightly different caliber, 358 NM, as part of the deal I acquired some of the same bullets. Speer 250gr GS's and some Hornady 250gr SP Interlocks. Since the deal I've also picked up some Hornady 275gr RN, an item probably no longer available and, some Barnes 225gr TSX. Prior to getting the 358 NM I acquired seven boxes of Norma 250gr factory ammo that shoots well so, If I get my Moose draw this year, I'll probably go with the factory ammo as it shoots very well.

Just quickly checking my Hornady 250gr SP Interlocks, they have a definate spirepoint tip configuration.

My 250 Interlocks (#3520) look different than yours. I have two boxes like this, but they have been around for a while. Shown with others for comparison.
My Hornady box of 250's are 3520, the same as your Hornady box on the right.
Oh that's just me. I never thought anybody else would ever see that, on my ammo data sheet.
From what I know of the history of the cartridge it was James Howe that actually developed the cartridge, not Townsend Whelen. But history has a funny way of recording events and apparently it was Howe himself, who named it the .35Whelen, in honor of his friend and mentor. Too modest to throw his own name on the cartridge he developed.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I shoot 150 Interlocks out of my Ruger 308win and 168 Interlocks out of my
308 Norma Mag.
Get great results.
One shot on the last three animals.
Couple hard shots as well.
Found all three bullets in the chest cavity.
Two deer and one moose.
I did weigh them and found they fell within Hornady bullet retention
as well.
Impressed with these bullets, youbetcha.
Not to say there isn't something better out there.
These fit my budget and have proved themselves in what I'm shooting.
