Pulled the trigger on a new PS90...Finished Pics on last page!

Sometime curiosity doesn't kill the cat...

Since it's getting re-barreled shortly... I figured what the heck and decided to take a peek inside...

That hardened blind pin was truly a pain to get out - ended up using a small mill and an even smaller carbide cutter to machine it out and not "waller" out the hole...

At any rate - here's a couple pics...They're larger than usual so you can see that the new barrel will make it to the legal requirement for non-restricted...

Again... removal without the proper tools would be quite difficult - unless you don't care about mangling anything... I highly don't recommend it...

Play safe while your in the sandbox Medic...Be courteous, be polite, and have a plan to ki11 everyone you meet...;). When you come back from your deployment you're more than welcome to use any of your ammo through my PS90...I'll just hold my hands under the ejection port to liberate the once fired brass...:D

Thanks. Much appreciated. I wish pre deployment training wasnt so long.

Quick Range Report...

Had an opportunity to test out the PS90 a bit today...It performed the same as I remember with the original P90's that I used a few years ago. Weight, trigger, recoil - just like old times.

Over the chronograph, I had good numbers...

31 grain bullet came out at 2400 and change.

The 28 grain hollow points were just to say a little slower.

And the 40 grain V-Max were around 300 fps less than the lighter loads.

Accuracy was better than expected considering the Loooong trigger linkage. The targets were shot at the length of the range we were using (50 yards), and due to the bore to sight relationship, I held over the sight a few inches to try to keep the group more centered.

The best group or the three was with the 40 grain V-Max, and center to center was less than 3/4 inch... I'm happy with those results...

The carbine did also attract a tremendous amount of attention from other shooters attending the range - all positive from those who handled it...

I'm anxious to see what the numbers are after the barrel is lengthened and is built to tighter tolerances... who knows... this may end up being a 1moa rifle as opposed to 1 coa (coyote of angle... :D)

Barrel Shroud arrived yesterday...

Tried the shroud on today to see what it looked like on the rifle, and it's quite nice... very light, and the fit is perfect...

Now I just need an ATT to get it to the gunsmith, and we're on the way...

I also need a new mount for the M21... maybe one of the quick release ones...if anyone has one they no longer need drop me a line...:D

where do you find the ammo to feed it? any reloading supplies sources? i had an FN 5-7 but sold it because of the ammo not being available.

who supplies the bullets in canada? and where did you get the dies?

sorry for the 101 questions ;) I really want to buy a p90, and an fn five-seven... again.

Well just a quick update. Dropped the carbine off today to have it re-barreled to non restricted. Had a good chat with the gunsmith, and can't wait to see the finished product.

That doesn't look like the shoulder thing that goes up!!

What kind of trickery are you trying to pull here?!!?!? :p

AP 5.7x28 is prohibited by name in Canada, a very big no-no.
Maybe those specific bullets are illegal I'm not sure, but as for AP ammo, it is LEGAL to own here in Canada, here's a CGN'er selling some Armor Piercing 308's. I just saw the ad this week along with provided photos.

It's also legal to own Tracer rounds here in Canada. At one point last year I remember Frontier Firearms was selling TRACERS by the case in 7.62x39.

Yupper - AP handgun ammo is a big no no... but just about any centerfire rifle will punch through ballistic panels...probably why AP ammo for long guns isn't an issue... the 5.7x28 is a weird little critter where both the pistol and the carbine were designed around the same cartridge...

That said, I'm squeeking the most accuracy out of the 40 grain V--Max... not considered AP, but certainly PP and CP... (paper piercing & Coyote Piercing).

I'm not all that familiar with this round, so have patience with me please. Since 5.7x28 AP is illegal, but AP in other rifle calibers is LEGAL, is the 5.7x28 specifically mentioned as banned? Or since it is a rifle round, as well as a pistol round, it's legal in the rifle, but illegal if loaded into a pistol? It's legal status is based on what you intend to shoot it in?

5.7x28 AP is specifically named as prohibited, regardless of what you shoot it in or intend to shoot it in. I would guess that since this cartridge is designed for use in a handgun in addition to a carbine, legislators were (perhaps justifiably) convinced that it was "Armour Piercing Handgun Ammunition".
