So i bought a brand new Kimber warrior in early may from P and D enterprises, good people in there, they shipped it to me in B.C. as i was pressed for time and didnt want to wait for a temporary ATT. it arrived in the mail approximately a week and a half ago, i took it to the range for the first time today, never been fired before, first magazine works like a dream, i fall in love, second magazine, first round is fine, second round, BOOM, the barrel bushing snapped, the recoil spring plug and recoil spring fly out the end of the gun, i was absolutely crushed, 1800 dollars worth of anything shouldnt break that early in its life, let alone something that your life relies on. very disappointed. has anyone heard of this happening before? regardless, i called P and D and its being fully waranteed by their distributor. and i was using factory ammo before anyone asks

Well, any company can turn out a lemon once in a while...but Kimber is known for using a lot of cheap MIM parts, unfortunately.
Although even the cheapest MIM stuff should last more than nine rounds, of course. Could well be a one-off flaw that would have been equally likely with any manufacturing process.

To the Op, yep that sucks, but even $60,000 new vehicles break on the first go sometimes, it is unfortunate, but sh!t happens. Hope you can get it sorted out it a quick fashion!

very interesting, I have more then 6K with my Kimber Custom SS II and NEVER ever had a problem at all !

whats funny is that same picture has been floating around the internet for at least 10 years.... it is a gen 2 gun from early production, every gun has had failures, from sig's to 1911's.

the gunzone which dean spiers started and where the "kAboom" term originated has many many cases of guns failing.

hey Tim good examples you got there (no SIG 226?)... but you have to accept NONE of them looks so "nice" like the Clock kaboom...
OTOH they have also been putting people in caskets since before Gaston Glock was born...
I am not dissing any other gun manufactuer or "type".... I love 1911's... just saying EVERY make and model of gun has KaBoom'ed at one point in either it's development or in user mistakes (most often ammo related).... nothing is infallible

All guns have the capability of having failures. Some may be more ever so slightly more prone to kabooms than others, but failures in any gun out here aren't nearly frequent enough to get me concerned about shooting (knock on wood). I would assume that the frequency of kabooms, with factory ammo, is comparable to a drop in a very, very large bucket.

Yeah, too bad this thread got hi-jacked.....
Anyway, back on topic..... As it was mentioned before, any pistol can suffer a part(s) failure. Just because it was a ~ $1,600 Kimber doesn't mean it can't blow a barrel bushing. It shouldn't but it can happen.
Hopefully, there is quick turnaround with the warranty work.

No doubt...I am just pointing out the fact (for the seriously mentally challenged out there) that the 1911 has been doing everything it's been doing, good, bad and ugly, for a long time.
But I agree 100%, Glocks aren't particularly prone to exploding.
Except the .40S&W Glocks, of course.
