I doubt we would get an official letter of approval from the RCMP like we did with the LAR-15 mags. However, the law is clearly on our side here - in the unlikely event that someone was charged, under the current rules I just don't see any way they could make it stick.
The way I see it, this really isn't that big of a deal, anyhow. I guarantee you that the average person without a P.A.L. has no idea what legal mag capacity limits are. They see us at the range with a 30 round banana mag for a VZ-58, they assume it's full capacity - not knowing it's actually pinned to 5. I'd wager most cops don't give a rats ass about mag limits either - any officer with a lick of sense knows that pinned mags don't make any kind of meaningful difference in the streets or anywhere else. The only people who would know/care about something like this at all would be some of the more knowledgeable anti-gun activists, and presumably they've got bigger fish to fry.
So whereas the general public probably assumes we already have normal capacity mags, and whereas only a slim minority of people who know better actually give a damn, I'd say this is something we might as well take advantage of. As always, keep your ducks in row and use discretion.
