Canadian Made Swiss Arms AR Lower

AR15 uppers will NOT fit on these lowers at all. You have zero chance of making a adapter.

Here is a couple pics showing where the mags hang up on my SA 14.3 carbine, from left to right.

Its the front squarness of some mags that cause the problems, notice the Pmags are tapered and the Colt mag has the square edges allready removed.

So you have to either take a small amount of metal from the SA upper trunion or remove the square shoulders from the magazines like I show in the picture ( first RRA mag pictured)

You're kidding right?

Having a non serial numbered/unrestricted lower, together with a non serialed/unrestricted upper and you don't think that would be a legal problem in this country????

No, not at all - The adapter would have to be considered the firearm, based on what is currently out there for statute and case law so far; and that is assuming that it is even possible to adapt an AR upper onto a SAN lower or vice versa... I have no idea as I mentioned earlier since I don't have a SAN rifle to compare. My suspicion is that there would be to great of a gulf to be brought together with out modification to one or the other. I can't see how adding materieal in between the two halves would make it possible.

The legal aspect of course would be an interesting patch of legal muskeg to navigate, and would require some careful consideration as to what is exactly what.

wow getting way off topic. this new sa lower will no more fit an ar upper than my current black special will fit an ar upper...

id be very interested in a lower.
Id prefer to retain the swiss arms buttstock, with the folder and catch to lock it folded, dont really care about ambi safety/mag release, though i guess it would be nice.

if it wasnt for the 4-500 cost of the lower parts kit, i would prob want a complete lower, but probably wont go that route to save some $

whats the estimated price range going to be?

care to tease us with some cad picts/prototypes?

I'd be down for a complete lower, just for the novelty factor, if nothing more. However, I would have zero interest in having to strip my factory SAN rifle lower in order to complete the 556 clone lower. I would guess that many other SAN fans would feel the same. Perhaps look into getting a volume discount on OEM factory internal kits so that you can offer drop in upper switches?

+1, would rather not have a factory lower not ready to use.

We might be able to offer this in a colour other then black. either tan or green.

I guess my Blue Star is out of luck.
On a more serious note, I think this is an interesting project that will attract primarily existing SwissArms owners. Unless of course uppers are readily available as a separate purchase. If I were planning to purchase one I would probably go for the complete lower even at extra cost to avoid messing with the original lower.

Needs to be complete. IE with trigger group. Also Black and a Canadian maple leaf on the lower somewhere would be nice.

It would be nice to have AR style pistol grips rather than SA, gives people more options for grip selection, especially those of us with bigger hands, I find the SA grips a little short. Great Idea. My 2 cents.

I'd buy SAN lowers from anyone that wants to offset the price of their purchase.

Again, the design of the SAN lower doesn't leave the ability to install AR grips. Not without removal of the Pressure Point Screw & housing.

I think your going to have to find a better source for the LPKs to make this viable as I think most everyone will want a complete lower.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is about swapping the lower parts over. It is not hard to do and I don't imagine you are regularly going to want to swap lowers. Am I missing something?
