I think the minimum is 16" But the nice people at the ATF will cross off any gun on your list not permitted in the US when they return your Form 6 (Like Norinco's)Any unusual shotgun restrictions, especially concerning barrel length? From what I've read, any 18" barrel is okay and the OAL must be at least 26"?
Thanks,
I am about to submit a Form 6 also. My upper is a Noveske with a 14.5 SS Afghan barrel. With the FH it is 16 OAL. Will it have to be perm attached to be approved? If I put 16 on the form, will a Border Guard check if it is perm attached or?
Thanks
yes your flash hider will have to be pined by sommeone that know how to do it so it pleasy the ATF. you need a specific method
I'm not sure thats true, since the AWB has been repealed rifles with all those accessories are legal for temp import.
I bring my AR to Michigan all the time, it has a collapsable stock, a flash hider and a bayo lug. It's even been inspected. The ATF has approved it and the border guards have never given me any grief.
AFAIK, 14" barrel is okay, as longas the FH is permanently fixed and the total barrel length is at least 16"
I know NY has some different restrictions, depends on what state your going to.

14" barrel is a NO-NO period.
FWIW the 14" barrel is a 14" barrel flash hider or no.
short barrelled rifles can enter as a QCB or what we call Restricted pistols up here. You log the Lower not the upper. Uppers change in size. Almost all CQB uppers are registered in the US. ( when attached to a lower ) and they are treated like a handgun.
Border guards enforce Federal laws not State laws.
