So...a few years back Remington started making those 710 models and selling them with a scope etc fairly cheap. I heard a lot of "stories" which may or may not have been true, some from a dealer, who said the barrels were not even ordanance steel and could be "shot out" in no time - so no good he tells me. Was he trying to sell me a higher quality? Or BS'ing me? Who knows?
My experience with Rem 7600/760/700 has all been positive - no barrel issues in fact no issues at all.
Question - so what's the dirt on these VTR & XTR etc rifles. The new triangular barrell with factory porting etc? Are they accurate? Do they stand up to lots of use? Am I going to shoot it out in one season?
I would appreciate some feedback prior to purchase.
Thanks
Marty
