And that's me as well. Well, maybe a few more of each, but basically the same. The biggest I own is a .30-06. And will be. Everything I have shot has come home with me. I have no reason to own a magnum anything. My short actions are in .243 and .308. However, as I have said before...to each his own. If you gotta have the new whizbanger super short crackerjack magnum or you will just never sleep again, then, by all means, go get it!! But don't tell me that it beats every other rifle out there.
And to address gun or sports writers and their agendas...I have not met or read one current, syndicated writer that tells the truth. All are coloured by their kickback, product accessibility, and opinions. I take every one of them with a grain of salt and try to read lots before I build an opinion of my own. And I try to espouse my opinion without trying to influence the world. It is just an opinion. I knowthat there is no need for anything larger than the .30-06 for North American game. However, I also know that, to some, it is a boring cartridge and they gotta have the bigger, better, faster one. So, let them have it. If there is enough demand and the major manufacturers pick it up, then it is a success in my book. Live and learn.
Sorry Chuck, I been doing this a lot longer than some here and still won't budge on what I know and what I like. You need some TI and a little more education.
Gatehouse, thanks for the rebuttal, saved me a lot of typing.
