I found a M-14 Match Grade Stainless Op Rod Spring Guide on marstar is this better then the one my m14 came with and will it fit my type of m14 anywords of wisdom would be great

For the money they are a better upgrade than your stocker ,Im running a Sadlak in one an a Badger Orderance in two more ,an I have the Marstar version in the wifes boomstik. They will tighten up your groups somewhat so its a desent upgrade.Welcome to the money pit ;) happy shootin partner.....

marstar guide works well with norinco and gi springs. This guide prevents the spring from binding under pressure.

I understand the premise of the round op-rod spring guide improving the alignment and smoothness of the op-rod over a rectangular one. I purchased the one from Marstar and installed in my rifle a couple weeks ago, haven’t had a chance to shoot with it in yet though.

What I don’t understand is how it produces better accuracy.
I’d assume when fired, the bullet is out the end of the muzzle before the op-rod starts to move.
I guess I just don’t see how a straightened out spring affects a bullet traveling down the bore.

School me boys because I don’t get it :D

Smoother aquisition on your follow up shot due to less friction, less jumpy, Or so I believe!

Truth is I just came up with that last statement cause it made sense to me...... otherwise, I believe you are correct but I'm sure this will not be the last post in this thread!

That’s understandable, but no accuracy change in a take your time, target shooting situation.

Possibly less torsional flex, you know sideways movement or binding???

Smoother function, which is desirable in any mechanical apparatus is excellent and that's why I put a different spring guide in my rifle.
How the introduction of this round rod increases accuracy escapes me.

the nm spring guide rod performs the following beneficial functions
keeps spring straight through the compression stroke as it collapses and expands on the rod. the standard rod allows the spring to bend during the compression stroke, which in turn causes oprod wigle and more wear and tear on parts.
ideally one would match condition the oprod guide's barrel surface to take out any rotational play in the oprod guide and this simple procedure, coupled with an NM spring guide rod, causes the moving parts to run the same path each stroke and thus the harmonics of the action are stabilized.... if this is the right way to put it.
noticeable differences in accuracy will vary from rifle to rifle. there are many who claim the difference with or without the NM spring guide was noticeable in thier particular rifle.
the NM spring guides are simply put..... an improvement over the original design.
