1949 Russian SKSs at Westrifle

Pictures are posted on page three...

I do intend to shoot it. I have a Tapco stock with no bayo cut coming (going to torch off the bayonet assembly), as well as a Choate drill and tap side mount so I can put a Tasco varmint 6-24x50mm scope on it. Just have to weld on a case deflector to the rear sight and pick up a Tapco 5/20 detach magazine. Once I thread the muzzle and get a AK74 style muzzle brake on it it will be good to go. Going to be the most pimpin' 1949 SKS at the range!

Just kidding! It will remain unfired as a collector piece. Goes well with the 53' and 54' Izhevsk non refurb minty rifles and a smattering of non franken pinned rifles from the very first shipment. I have a chinese SKS for shooting.

Sorry, i saw the pics........its friday i,m tired lol. I will put mines for long term storage but i'm tempted to get 1 more 1949:) If my cc agree:D

Did not bother stamping my stock, which is quite fine by me. Sergei said that the stocks were beat to hell/rotted on the 49's so they were reworked prior to shipment.

Honestly, I wold prefer a beat up and rotted original 1949 that isn't recently reworked to one that has been tarted up. I doubt I'm in the minority.

True enough, but next time you talk to Ivan over there, ask him to please stop prettying rifles for our market - the un-pretied ones are often more valued to us! ;)

Any idea if there are more of these over there for when the mag rules (hopefully) get modified away from the franken-pin?

Have one ordered as well sure hope i am not disapointed this is my 5th sks so this one i hope will finish my sks colection.Ordered 2496 kind of dissapointed to hear they are reacently referbed but i guess we are luckey to get one considering there we3re only 6000 made not bad i will be the proud owner of 2 of them, will post a few pics when i receive it

I wish it was that easy :D
I cannot guarantee if I can get more as we all know its rare (even refurb). When everybody here was asking if I can get them I said I will do my best.
Next time I will ask them.
I will see what I can do.
