...... Why!!!!??????
Why not?
Heavy recoil & dirt cheap ammo, i'd love to own a x39 pistol.
7.62 x 39 is rifle ammunition
LOL... as opposed to 5.56 or 45-70 Govt in the BFR
Regards,

7.62 x 39 is rifle ammunition
Sure, it works if you put a rifle barrel on it.
Look again, ... there are SBR's and there are pistols. An AR pistol is not a handgun with a rifle barrel. It happens to have the same caliber as it's rifle counterpart put is classed and defined as a pistol. There are numerous successful handgun designs chambered for what was initially a rifle cartridge. The BFR (and no that does not stand for Barrel For Rifles) is a prime example of how big a round you can actually use successdfully in a handgun (in this case a revolver) design. The Remington XP100 series were popular in the 80's and shot well. They still have a following today. All are bolt action pistols firing conventional rounds as well as wildcat cartridges ( and no that is not a "union" term). There is no reason why the 7.62x39 would not work in a handgun (pistol or revolver) designed for it regardless if it was initially a rifle cartidge. Wether or not it will happen or someone is willing to spend the $$$ on R&D / production is another story.
with Delta or something like that :
