M&P9 groupings?

I have only shot winchester 115gr and federal ammo 115gr through mine about 800 rounds since I got it in june not one miss fire, my groupings suck as I am still learning, this is my first handgun and absolutely love it

I tried a fellow Gunnutz member's M&P Pro with his factory ammo and was able to get a group of about 1.5" at 15 yards, two handed standing slow fire.

I was impressed with the accuracy of that pistol.

I don't know about the 9mm but my .40 will group 2 1/2 -3" at 25 yrds with the right ammo and makes a ragged hole at 10-12 yards. i have confidence taking the harder shots close to non threats while shooting odpl.

I have had very limited hands on time with the M&P9 but it did not suite me at all. With a comfortable hold it was a pretty big group (i.e. bigger than hand size at 15yrds). Regular shaped even groups, but spread out.

With a "death grip" (i.e. clutched so tight I would be hard pressed to hold it like that for more than 5 rounds without getting tremors) the groups tightened up much better. It is certainly an accurate pistol since you can blow out the x-ring...but I can't shoot comfortably with it for extended periods of time.

Switching to a different pistol and holding normally was pure joy every time after shooting that.

It shot well with most wolf stuff and handloads...old 9mm mil-surp (+P subgun stuff) did not work well at all. It was fun and went bang, but the groups were lousy.

the hand weld

+1 with this experience. I could not shoot the M&P worth (fill in your favourite explicative), regardless of the grip swell chosen. I think it is too mobile in some hands- you just can't get a good weld unless you try to squeeze it so tight the mags won't release. Not exactly a pleasure.

I'm getting a pretty consistent 3" group at around 12-15 meters using 124 gr. BDX reloads. I have found that a firm 60 front/40 rear grip and REALLY concentrating on the trigger reset has vastly improved my shooting with my M&P9.

I can also hit a 2x3 steel target 10 times out of 10 at 50 meters.

Sorry but how are you able to hit a 2"x3" metal target at 50 meters but only able to get a 3" grouping at 15 meters? IMHO if you can hit a little metal target at 50 meters consistantly with a rifle using open sights you're doing pretty good.

I questioned the accuracy of my M&P9 shortly after I got it, but I took it on a PPC introduction/qualification course and one of the regular club guys shot 10 'X' rings with it at 25 yards standing unsupported, it's not the gun.......it rarely is the gun.

I have a 9 a 40 and a Pro9 and all of them will goup under 5" at 15 yards benched. I can shoot 8 inch plates at 10 yards no problem and at 25 yards I can keep them in the A zone on a classic target freehand.

The .40 likes 180 grain, the 9 regular likes 124 grain and the 9 Pro likes 147 grain.
